O’Keefe was charged alongside fellow influencer Cam Higby after they allegedly misrepresented themselves at polling places during Minnesota’s primary in August.

A Minnesota prosecutor on Wednesday charged conservative provocateur James O’Keefe and influencer Cam Higby with felony counts of unlawful voting and identity theft after they misrepresented themselves at polling places in August using the names of registered voters.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, who announced the charges at a news conference, accused the pair of entering polling places during state primary election voting on Aug. 11 and identifying themselves using names of registered voters in those precincts without those voters’ knowledge or permission.

“Both men stopped short of signing the oath we all sign before receiving our ballot,” she said. “But Minnesota law states clearly that no individual shall intentionally misrepresent their identity in applying for a ballot.”

No plea. Max sentence. Make an example. MAGAts should be on board too, given how much they claim to hate voter fraud.

This guy has skated multiple times. He was accused of trying to wiretap a Senator's office. He claims that he only trying to get embarrassing footage of her.

This dickhead is the same that took down ACORN on false claims.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 67 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Of course he did. Republicans can't win if they don't cheat, lie or steal.

[–] plateee@piefed.social 13 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I feel like this is then just trying to "prove" how easy it is to do a voter fraud.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah. Right. Hey... did you know if you robbed a bank just to show how easy it was to rob a bank that you'd STILL be a bank robber ? Weird how that works, huh?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Feel like? It's 100% what it was. I believe that was their stated goal.

[–] plateee@piefed.social 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Could easily be. I try my best not to pay attention to the dregs of society if I can help it.

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Well it was in the article..

So, if he's convicted, does the person who found his fraudulent voting get that $1m that trump promised?

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 days ago

I guarantee that does not apply if the guilty person is a Republican.

[–] teslekova@lemmy.ml 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

A lady in Georgia, a mother, did less than this by accident.

She's still in jail. Because she's black.

[–] KullumDaue@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago

i am unfamiliar with her story, did she vote? because they didn't, they basically identified themselves falsely. they didn't get a ballot, and they didn't cast a vote.

they probably would argue that they were testing the system.

still, they will face the state in court (if it went to that).

I hope someone is keeping track. Lots of righties crying about voter fraud then committing it. We'll need a tally at some point. My absolute favorite is when they get caught, they always say "I did it to prove the lefties can do it" but they're the only ones who actually do it. Once again, every accusation is a confession.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 days ago

Ahh, well, you see, yes, you see, the lefties do it but they don't get caught because they are smarte...no, yes, no, no, not because they are that but because they are more cunning.
Stupidly cunning, but in a not smart way.
They do it such a stupid way that us much smarter righties don't have the stupidity levels to go that low!! Yes, that's it. Yes.

They posted videos capturing their interactions on social media in August. O’Keefe said on X that they dressed in “Muslim garb” — including, for one of them, a full-face veil known as a niqab

Are men "allowed" to wear a niqab?

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 41 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He's dressing in women's clothes now?

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 5 days ago

What restroom did he use?!

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 12 points 5 days ago

Islam does have a prohibition on men acting like women and vice versa, so barring extenuating circumstances the answer is "no." That said nobody can actually tell whether the person wearing a niqab is a man or a woman unless they speak.

Unless they're Shia, in which case once he comes out he has to transition fast and work to pass asap. At least according to an Iranian trans woman I once met. But also niqabs are more Wahabi

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 35 points 5 days ago

Classic Republican. The accusation is a confession.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Every election these days some conservative tries to show how easy it is to illegally vote by making the really stupid decision of illegally voting

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

When conservative activists do crimes, it's totes cool.

This asshole is responsible for the moral panic that destroyed ACORN.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

A Nazi committing crimes??? Nooooo

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

{cough} projec {cough} tion {cough}

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Conservative activists: literally cancel ACORN

Also conservative activists: spend years and years whining about how "comedy is no longer allowed", conservatives are "cancelled" on social media, conservative free speech was "cancelled", etc.

They should get back to me when some destructive conservative activist group like the Heritage Foundation is actually cancelled.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 7 points 4 days ago

"Influencer"?

Ratfucker. Luckily he's such a raving asshole that he'll piss someone off in prison.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

This guy is so overdue for prison.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago
