The planet when everyone outsources everything to AI:

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 42 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Won't somebody please think of the shareholders??????

[–] justme@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Finally, AI is actually offering performance gains.

And as always, society pays for externalities.

HR offices are crying about the fact that everyone uses AI for their resumes because they use AI to screen them. It is an arms race of keyword stupidity.

[–] yyyesss@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

oh shit it's meta tags and search engines all over again

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If they want to stop receiving AI resumes, they can just stop favoring them.

[–] jonline@feddit.online 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I don't think they can. HR seems to be full of people who are trying to hire for roles they don't understand. Everyone who works in web development has probably encountered stuff like "Do you know java or javascript? Either is fine" from HR screening calls.

HR seems to be full of people who are trying to hire for roles they don’t understand.

That has a well known solution. In fact, two, depending if you are looking form the PV of the HR people or the people hiring them.

You can learn stuff. You can also fire people that will refuse to learn stuff.

[–] jonline@feddit.online 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, I guess that's technically true for some people. Unfortunately, most people aren't in a position to fire anyone or force them to learn anything. And the people who do have that power typically don't care or understand the problem. Whatever capitalist husk is calling the shots isn't going to want to spend money training their HR goons to learn software development.

They're both coffee based languages right?

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

But to do that they need to stop using the AI filtering software that tosses out resumes that don't confirm to AI standards.

I think the HR departments of nearly everywhere that I’ve worked could be replaced with last year’s, discount LLM models and things would improve.

[–] Midnight1938@reddthat.com 36 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Somehow the people most replaceable by llms are the ones deciding who to replace

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Once again reminding me about the experiment where LLM performed on the same or higher level as actual execs of companies...

I wonder if I ever will stop chuckling at this, lol.

Employers when I outsource my performance review to AI

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

My manager outsources it to AI so I don’t see why I shouldn’t

[–] ITGuyLevi@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago

Not going to lie, I hate doing my annual review and letting copilot write it for me was too bad this time. I fed it my standards/objectives and said "did I do this stuff? Write my review for me" and it did something better than I would have come up with. I was able to see the references it used so I feel okay submitting it. Didn't have time to work on it this year with as many people as we've lost over the past couple years.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 5 days ago

Hell we might as well switch the HR dept to AI, thr lady in charge of HR is just using chat GPT to make policies now so what's the fucking difference?

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

The AI when I use AI to AI the AI.
