Australian magpies aren't related to true magpies. They're some of my favourite birds (with a beautiful song) but DANG are they aggressive in nesting season.

Also when I searched for that article I found 16 usernames with "magpie" in them. Some were alternates, many had zero posts, some perhaps belonged to corvid enthusiasts who were referring exclusively to Eurasian magpies, but nonetheless!
