The problem is he was INJECTING it. Everyone knows gold is best used as a suppository. That's just undisputed fact.
I have gold in my ass right now!
this is good for buttcoin
Yes, I'm a gold digger. Yes, we exist.
A gold buttplug is certainly a choice
Yeah there's nooooo way it also could have just been your garden variety stimulant/amphetamine psychosis
I have a sneaking suspicion his buddy was doing meth/adderall/other stimulants to stay lean.
Amphetamines combined with lack of sleep can fuck with your head. (Especially if you're already an idiot.)
For the record everyone: Methamphetamine is growing rapidly in terms of popularity, all over the world.
Crystal meth can absolutely destabilize one's mental health to the point it is scary.
Yes it can make you lose weight and concentrate on boring tasks but you HAVE to fucking sleep and eat. (A lot of people just stop taking care of themselves cause the physiological cues for hunger and rest don't happen on these drugs)
Don't use meth every day. Duh.
If you begin to feel like you're experiencing things that are outside the realm of normal possibility you might want to put it down and take a Valium and just go to fucking bed.
Thank you this has been my meth TED talk.
(2 years clean this November.)
They made new meth out of shit the government hadn't made illegal yet, and it causes psychosis MORE frequently than old meth
This happened 3 months ago. Connor Murphy died from drowning in a lake in Thailand. His two bro-science friends claim that he was injecting gold and that the gold injection made him behave erratically.
I think there's not enough evidence to show that injecting gold would make him behave erratically. There are documented instances of people injecting gold for medical research. I think Connor was probably behaving erratically prior to injecting gold, if he even actually injected gold.
injecting gold would count as erratic behavior as an initial decison
Yeah that's what I was thinking, it was probably that the core issue caused him both to inject gold and to take the actions that led to his death.
He may have been scammed, we've all had run ins with door to door metal salesmen, and sometimes they'll try and pass off gold coloured mercury as liquid gold to try and swindle you.
Just this morning, a man tried to palm off some copper so shit it'd make Ea-nasir blush. I said "Look, buddy, I'm in the market for copper because I'm making High Bandwidth Memory chips in my bathroom right now, and you're offering copper not even suitable for roof gutters. Please come back with some actually good copper and then we can talk".
As I recall the comments from his social group implied that he was erratic before and also experimenting with amphetamines, though I'm certain it was the gold
I keep hoping that more rich asshole dispose of themselves like Chinese nobles (apocryphally) did
Like, Elon just blowing himself up on a rocket trying to launch himself to the moon
Instead he'll just make it illegal to say that whatever state Grok is in when he dies is his will in digital form and he'll post Dr, House screenshots cause he'll still be in 2011 when he dies.
99% of emperors quit before they discover the perfect potion of lead and gold for immortality.
Horrible situation, horrible thing to have happen due to a diseased society focused too hard on beauty at the cost of one's health, but I have to say, being driven mad after attempting to ascend past humanity's limitations after achieving physical perfection is one hell of a way to go.
It's wild how I'm still shocked by the depravity and ingeniousness of human capacity for mental illness.
Yeah it's p daoist
Well, that's certainly one way of Chinamaxxing.
ill ne er regret focusing on thinkmaxxing instead of looksmaxxing.
Flex your head
Solid career advice from Jack Nicholson to Leonardo DiCaprio
We don't need to rediscover all of science and medicine from first principles guys I promise that you can trust some people in some times and situations and be mostly ok
All I can think of is those Scheming Eunuchs comics
Gold does have special powers if you ~~ingest~~ invest it.

something tells me this guy didn't fully understand the lore of Elden Ring, should've read more item descriptions
good riddance
I feel like there was probably some mental health issues going on. Whether before or after the gold, I think this person probably had some kind of delusional thinking or maybe mania? I'm not a doctor, I won't try to diagnose him, but I think the real atrocity is his "friends" not intervening and getting him help and instead apparently cheering him on and hoping he would succeed in this ridiculous experiment.
Yeah, unless they were doing some very high dosing or whatever they were injecting wasn't gold or had some other chemical, I don't think what I'm seeing online matches with what's being described.
Lots of mentions of gold miscoloring skin (matches) but almost none about psychological or neurological effects. Mentions of gold and gold salts being used and having some reactions (positive and negative), but no warning or mention of mental breakdown. Warnings of contamination from certain gold salts and non-gold heavy metal contaminations. In fact, one article I found claims gold doesn't even cross the blood-brain barrier? (https://sci-hub.ru/10.1080/10408444.2018.1513991:"The blood–brain barrier prohibits passage of most metal particles or therapeutic agents (Lansdown 2007; Gromnicova et al. 2013).")
Definitely seems like the gold thing is more a symptom then a cause to me but I ain't a doctor.
Yeah I really don't know how to parse the bit about hoping he would be vindicated... Like, does he mean he was hoping his buddy had actually discovered the gold secret to etental life? The chances of that are uh vanishingly small, and I feel like our mans here should know that P:
