Donald Trump railed against Sen. Tom Cotton in a series of posts on Saturday, accusing the Arkansas Republican of holding up a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent and encouraging people to call the senator at his cellphone number.

This is the best thing that Trump has done while in office, sad that our bar is so low.

Senator Cotton grow a pair and post Trump's number. DO IT

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

All these dudes are cowards. Trump had Epstein killed, he could have one of them killed too.

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

Looking forward to the Big Beautiful Obituary.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 87 points 5 days ago (27 children)

DJT is ass, Cotton is ass, DST is ass (use Standard time), fuck everyone involved

[–] ThanksObama@sh.itjust.works 62 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't care which one it is. Just pick one and save the poor clock arms from abnormal forced movement. This is machine abuse.

[–] cyphear@thelemmy.club 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The Omnissiah approves of your message. Machine abuse has got to stop.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 11 points 5 days ago

Their machine spirits scream in agony each time their aging hands are forced into new positions.

[–] mysticpickle@lemmy.ca 22 points 5 days ago (6 children)

Don't give a shit. Priority #1 is stopping this time changing madness first. Just lock a time in and we can revisit the DST vs Standard time shit later.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

we can revisit the DST vs Standard time shit later.

I know! We can revisit it twice every year! ;-)

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 15 points 5 days ago

Exactly. It's all arbitrary. So I get up at 8 or get up at 7. I don't care. Just let it be consistent

Tom Cotton has a REALLY FUNNY tit for tat response if he wants one...

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Fairly sure Trump could escalate with secret service and possibly even laws I am not even aware of if Tom does that.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 22 points 5 days ago

Trump is an ass, and this is absolutely not how thing should be done. But here we are.

So if I have to go through this shitshow, I can at least laugh my ass off that he's doing this to Cotton who's been one of his supporters. That's what he gets.

Lol imagine messing with daylight savings while you're losing a war... Well, anything to avoid talking about the Trump & Epstein Files.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Epstein Files featuring Donald John Trump

We should just refer to them and the trumpstein Pedo Files

[–] WesternInfidels@feddit.online 21 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It was President Nixon who last tried to eliminate the spring-forward/fall-back. Now the regime is trying to rehab Nixon's rep.

Is this a meaningful coincidence? A stupid coincidence? Both?

[–] Nowtayneicangetinto@thelemmy.club 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I saw a bunch of clips today of MAGA repubs calling Watergate a hoax and blaming the deep state lol. JD Vance just said recently that if Watergate happened today, it would be a 12 hour story and disappear. I think that's a silent admission of knowing how many crimes his administration is committing every day.

[–] DillDough@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

It wasn't silent, watch the full speech or at least a slightly longer clip. His next sentence straight up says that they do worse all day every day.

[–] HailSeitan@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Nixon also tried to pass a guaranteed basic income. This is a coincidence.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago (7 children)

Wouldn't it be better to stick with standard and not DST?

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

we got rid of it in the past and a surprising amount of people wanted it back immediately, ALLEGEDLY it curbs seasonal depression to a degree people can notice (apparently this may be a myth). but it also effects a hand full of industries it would cost some millions in terms of the economy, of course Trump gives zero shits about that he just cares if the chaos is either paid for in advance or something he can profit from, but there are reasons to keep daylight savings.

[–] Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

We tried permanent DST in the past, not permanent standard time.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

We should move all time forward 6 hours and adopt Trump Saving Time, TST.

When it comes to Trump slapping his name on things, there is no bottom.

Imagine getting doxxed by the freaking president of the United States

I'd have an answer to "one fun fact about you" for the rest of my life

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Honestly, I don't fucking care. I could swear there was already a vote to do this years ago. If this guy is holding it up for God knows what reason, that's fucking stupid. Not as stupid as getting on the lolita express and going to Jeff's island and fucking kids, but it's stupid nonetheless. Genuinely don't care that the pedo did this so we wouldn't talk about how he fucks kids.

Daylight savings time is a failed experiment. Permanent daylight savings has been tried and was quickly repealed. Sending children to school in the dark is stupid.

[–] Smokeless7048@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Did Trump post his personal number (really effing stupid), or just his work number, which is fine?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Trump has done this before. I wouldn't be surprised if Republican politicians buy a burner phone just to give the number to Trump, so that if Trump blabs it like this it doesn't swamp the numbers they actually use to get shit done

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 days ago

Even if Trump finds out they can tell him it's a private Bat-phone just for him.

I love it when they turn on each other. Let's encourage lots of that: "You gonna let him say that about you? I wouldn't, but I'm not a pussy."

[–] GreenBean@lemmy.today 11 points 5 days ago (3 children)

DST is a pain. All that aside, is it legal to list a phone number other than your own for all to see?

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 days ago

It's legal when a Republican President does it.

Super duper secret illegal when it's a Democrat.

[–] cloudshouter@lemmy.zip 9 points 5 days ago

Well, there used to be a thing called a phone book. However certain people such as politicians and celebrities would have their private numbers unlisted and it would have been considered very improper to dox them.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 7 points 5 days ago

Who actually gives a shit

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Can’t golf if it’s dark.
