I got an air cooler just because I had 3 die on 6 years, as the pump on each went.

Went back to noctua

I think "nuh uh" is a fair rebuttal, to be honest

My favorite was groundhogs biteing with their faces. Not their mouthes, their entire faces.

They would bite a lion I'm half.

I'm going from memory, and can't find a link.

Yea, I was thinking pretty explicitly of SciFi, from the 60s/70s vs modern SciFi.

I'm sorry, but I just don't agree. I love 70s sci-fi, and have aread a huge collection of weird books... But none of them have prose as good as some of the modern books, such as The Final Architecture, The Expanse, or even Red Rising.

And it's worth remembering what decade it was written in, a lot of the older prose and pacing hasn't aged well.

I upvote nearly everything, helps drive engagement and keep Lemmy healthy.

Its pretty rare that I downvote, guessing a 90/10, 0or 95/5 split

Artificial, bought a friend's tree second hand 8 years ago.

Thinking about replacing it next year. Have a toddler, and trying to make Christmas more special, and this one's old enough it's lots a lot of it's needles

I've wanted to illuminate my kick plates for a long time, starting with my master bathroom, and rolling out to my secondary and kitchen

Finally started today, with a 100w 24v converter, and a gledopto ZigBee controller

Installation was easy, and the controller was quickly picked up. I previously installed a GFCI protected outlet under my sink, so I just plugged it into there.

I don't have a motion sensor yet, so it's just a timed automation:

Day: bright white, about 40% brightness Evening: warm white, about 20% brightness After 10: almoast amber, and about 1% brightness, just enough to pee by.

I bought several Sonoff mini4r to add some automation to my lights, and wanted to post a short review:

Pros:

  • price is excellent. Got 5 for <$50 cad.
  • Size is amazing, itsy Bitsy.
  • Build quality feels good.
  • Should be easy to flash, if my soldering skills were better, with exposed pads.
  • Connected to my home wifi quick and easy.
  • SonoffLAN easily picked them up, with full control.
  • Detached relay mode works great, with switch fallback if wifi goes down.
  • quick response time, under a second.

Cons:

  • only rated for 10-12 amps, means I can't install this on switch controlled outlets.
  • wish it had headers for flashing.
  • wifi only, wish there was a ZigBee model.

In the end, I'm likely to buy more, and some Shelly units for where I need 16-20 amp relays.

People honestly beleive there was a massive empire until recently which covered most the globe, but was destroyed by a worldwide mud flood.

Somehow, spires on buildings made limitless power

Whose planning on upgrading from the Q2 to a Q3?

It seems like a lot of incremental upgrades, but it's a LOT of incremental upgrades.

Cost is definitely a lot higher than I like, close to 2x what I paid for my Q2
