Anti-LGBTQ+ Christian activist Sean Feucht said in a video published on September 29 that the entire state of Minnesota has been “hijacked with toxic empathy towards … the LGTBQ community,” Muslims, and “so many other groups” that have allegedly “hijacked the niceness or the empathy of the church.

The concept of "toxic empathy" should be purged from Christianity like one of the highest forms of heresy. I'm talking Deus Vult levels of purging.

Ok so "Toxic Empathy" means "others having empathy for people you hate".

[–] MammyWhammy@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love"

But only the correct kind of love that we condone and pre-approve.

[–] wizblizz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

There's no hate quite like Christian love.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 21 hours ago

Christians don’t actually believe in the Bible. It’s all a scam. If they did, they would eat him alive in the name of Jesus for ever referring to empathy as “toxic.”

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 4 points 1 day ago

I CANT imagine WHY people are Leaving the Church!

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Empathy of the church. Like the empathy for all the raped children? Or for the abused women?

Can't hijack something that doesn't exist.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago

Actually I'd argue it's been hijacked by pedophilia.

[–] bertlewirth@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Jesus, famous for all the hate he spewed.

That's fine, they can sit in their church and repent for us all day long.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Ahhhh yes my favorite part of the Bible is how the religion was created from lack of empathy. These people are creating their own demise.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

Not soon enough

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I am more worried about these morons highjacking tolerance.

[–] Throbbing_banjo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

"Toxic Empathy," just what Jesus always warned about🤣

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 8 points 1 day ago

Yes, I recall the passage clearly. "Love thy neighbor," he said, "Unless the fucker is brown or queer. Then fuck 'em up!"

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

"Blessed are the powerful, for we kick ass"

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Love thy neighbor unless they’re fucking queer or brown.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

But...Jesus was brown...and probably gay, too.

[–] UsernamesAreForSuckers@lemmy.world 56 points 2 days ago (4 children)

They claim Jesus as their savior and greatest teacher but look everywhere but Jesus’s sermons for justifications for their beliefs. It’s so blatantly hypocritical.

If Jesus came back to America he'd be shot within one minute of opening his mouth for being a "Communist".

Whether he gets shot by the CIA or some random Magat is up to chance.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm an atheist, but in cases like these I hope that they are right and get re-routed to hell for being a hypocrite and asshole.

How hard can it be not to throw stones on other people?

[–] UsernamesAreForSuckers@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’m an atheist too. I grew up in religion, but that hypocrisy is not something I could ignore.

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think one of the quickest ways to atheism is to read the Bible. Granted you have to be able to critically think though.

[–] felixthecat@fedia.io 1 points 3 hours ago

Yep...it was hard getting through the old testament. I read about half the decided if God exists it's definitely not the Christian god. That was when I was 12...

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 15 points 2 days ago

Some churches have actually been asked to stop giving Jesus' sermons, for fear that they are woke.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I bet a few of them could get onboard with stoning unruly children. (Mark 7. The law Jesus cited and accused the Pharisees of not following is about stoning children who talk back to their parents.)

If you wondered why conservative Christians come up with awful shit in the Bible… it’s because the Bible has awful shit to come up with.

I was just pointing out they cherry pick the most awful shit and most of it from the old testament.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Conservatives are biologically unable to experience empathy. That's why conservatives refer to empathy as fake or evil. They really do believe that because they cannot experience it.

A lack of empathy is why conservative relationships are so shallow. Conservatives love their families as property, not as humans with whom they can empathize. A conservative man loves his wife the way a teenager loves a sportscar. It's a strong emotion, but it is not a deep emotional bond. A deep emotional bond is impossible without some amount of empathy.

This biological inability to experience empathy is also why bigotry comes so easily for conservatives. It's why genocide comes so easily to them. It's why war comes so easily to them. It's how they are able to genuinely delight in the suffering of the vulnerable.

Understand that a conservative will never see a normal person as a human, because they cannot humanize others.

It is not only immoral to keep a relationship with a conservative, it is deadly dangerous. They do not value your life and never will. Because they simply can't.

If it's for the "wrong" recipients.

That's sonservatives in a nut shell. Their whole world view is based on the conviction, that their ways are the correct ones which everyone has to live by. No exceptions.
"Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."

What he wants people to hear is "empathy misapplied to those who do not deserve it". What he's really trying to do is normalize psychopathy and Machiavellianism.

Right, on the same day it's come out that Trump is making it harder for US citizens abroad to vote, and Hegseth has announced a 'Department of Religious Affairs' in the military which appears to exclusively be for Cristian Pastors/soldiers.

...and the claim is LGBTQIA+ people are hijacking the US?

[–] TRAHR@quokk.au 11 points 2 days ago

It’s always projection with them.

[–] Nagrom@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

Toxic empathy is my new username.

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes, as Jesus famously said “Love thy neighbor… unless theyre like gay or muslim or something”

Treat others how you want to be treated...unless the others are gay, not white, different religion, women, children, have different opinions...

[–] one_old_coder@piefed.social 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Empathy is cumulative, you can't have enough of it or hijack it. What a fucking caveman.

[–] Deadeyegai@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Skeletons in closet in 3. 2. 1....

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 9 points 2 days ago

Hah. My thoughts exactly. It's so pathetic with these guys. 100% he's gay, or rapes minors or some fuckery.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Empathy is only toxic to trash humans.

[–] unicorn@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago

wasn't there a whole parable about empathy re: dives and lazarus or something like that? idk i'm not a bible expert like these pastors, obviously.

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Sean can get Feucht

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

Those Conservative Christian, right wing Republican, straight, white, American male pastors have never heard of lepers? Love them all, motherfuckers!
