Newt Gingrich is still alive?

He really strikes me as the “died of covid in 2021” type

I guess he was wearing the correct amulet when he struck his bargain with Nurgle

Those are hard to come by. The last one was seen in possession of a Hohenzollern more than a century ago.

He fell for a satricial article proposing it: https://www.chinatalk.media/p/its-time

I support Elon Musk and Newt Gingrich enshittifying the military.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 16 points 5 days ago

They'll be able to generate their own power (with a constant stream of off-site-refined fossil fuels).

[–] BobDole@hexbear.net 32 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Judging by the state of infrastructure at military bases that grid will be fucked after five years.

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 15 points 5 days ago

How optimistic! I give them a week

[–] Moomoo_Milk@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago (1 children)

AUTOWARCOMM sounds like the name of a really boring mid 00s shooter.

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

was more thinking an incredibly low-budget eastern euro mid-2000's RTS

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 11 points 5 days ago

Or badly translated mecha games

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 34 points 5 days ago

Sure, why the fuck not?

I hope it results in a lot of dead troops and exploded bases

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Huh, so they really are worried about the power grid

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 31 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Also good luck running a parallel power grid without oil assholes. Unless they decide to have nuclear power plants in each base, which would be equal parts funny because it just paints a giant target on a single, expensive and very delicate facility critical to all operations, and scary for all the civilian population many bases are surrounded by (something, something, human shields)

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 11 points 5 days ago

they did decide on nuclear micro reactors on every base? they are running two pilot projects by 28 or some shit

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 28 points 5 days ago

Think this is because the electric grid is too unreliable or too woke (renewable)?

USA, the country never invaded by enemy: "NEED TO BUILD FORTRESS AMERICA!"

USSR and Russia, countries attacked in hybrid or hot war for over last century non stop: "how dare they have military or security concerns"

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

Remember that Americans consider brown immigrants to be enemy combatants. So in that sense they believe they're being invaded everyday.

Elon is just gonna keep bringing up his inflated competitive Quake prowess and how relevant that is to war planning while Newt stares blankly in confusion and Palmer just thinks to himself “fucking unc.”

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Lol. Lmao, even.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 14 points 5 days ago

Are they gonna power the bases with black mold?

Yes, but project meridian and fortress america are completely separate things. Project meridian is a 4-month gab session to discuss "the future of war" and fortress america is a wild project to make the 6 billion us military bases completely energy independent. Oh, and autowarcomm is the new military command run by grok.
