Honestly lately it's been "voting to make things worse, but at a slower rate"
And the best part is that I have done everything you're supposed to do!
I vote in primaries, I help canvas for local politicians i like, I am even on several of my town's political committees
Nothing has gotten better because the system is fucked and I am so tired of pretending it isn't
It's not though. It's working exactly as designed.
I meant fucked as in awful and deleterious as opposed to fucked up, aka broken
Curse my trenchant fingers
Feeling the same lately. The last bit of the electoralism lib in me was holding onto was at the local level. Even that is just blegh.
Liberals will then look you in the eye and tell you you are a radical extremist and no better than a nazi because you refused to vote for the blue bourgeois party.
These discourage voting subs never seem to attack Republicans. Really tells you who's paying to spread propaganda seeing as they're in majority control of all branches of the US government.
Edit: my guess for this is, if you repeat a lie often enough someone will believe it. I believe people are waking up to that fact when it comes to botted misinformation campaigns or foreign troll farms.
Really tells you who's paying to spread propaganda
Don't think that is much relevant, I'm sure there is some paid propaganda but they do it because it suits them ideologically, they stand for the status quo so they cannot sit idly while people challenge it in any way, so they rather punch left (the ones challenging it) then punch right (the ones that agree with them ideologically) not matter if their interest is aligned with the left or not.
i remember seeing this meme back on the old r/chapotraphouse subreddit and it really clicking for me. no pun intended. i was still working on clearing out the american brainworms i had about liberals being on the left and this image really helped solidify it for me that liberals and conservatives are just different pieces in the same machine working together to keep anything from ever gettting better.
I've only ever heard Republicans refer to everyone on the left as liberals. I've literally never hear the word liberal except in online disinformation campaigns.
Genuinely asking: Have you ever had a serious, good-faith discussion with anyone left-of-liberal? There’s plenty of diversity (and disagreement) there, but any such person will frequently use the term “liberal” to mean something specific and well-defined (as opposed to the right who will use it as a substitute for idk anyone who isn’t enthusiastically bigoted)
Irl? Yes, I've spoken with plenty left wing people but it is a pretty wide range of personalities from what I've come to find. I've found the smartest people being some of the most deeply compassionate and empathetic people there is.
Nowadays when I hear liberal in real life it's someone mocking the right wing
Conservatives:
building and using the ass whooping torture machine 5000
Liberals:
keeping said machine but turning it off followed by:
🍷clink! 🍷
converting the orphan mulcher 7000 to renewable energy
Yep, thats why more mamdani type politicians are needed. Severe consequences are needed for the obvious corruption and blatant coverup of the Epstein files by practically every Republican
Meanwhile Mamdani: "By the way if you protest for Palestine I will send in my thugs. Also I'm throwing the trans community under the metaphorical bus."
Do be like that.
true dat, also feel like that
Back...and to the left... Back...and to the left... Back...and to the left...
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
look yes the party is essentially Reagan at this point but look how much worse the current republicans are. How dare you not want to vote for Reagan when the alternative is the Hitler version of Reagan (ie those who actually made the decisions for Reagan

“As a Cold War kid, I’m thankful it was Reagan and not Trump in office in the 1980s,” she added. “Trump would have lost us the Cold War.”
Slotkin also has emerged as one of the sharpest critics of Democratic messaging, telling reporters after last fall’s election that Democrats would be wise to focus more on “issues that keep people up at night,” like their bank accounts.
“It’s not rocket science, but talking about those issues plainly, not from the faculty lounge but from the assembly line, is, I think, a very important message,” Slotkin said then. “It’s not just what you’re saying but from what place you are talking about those issues. … I personally think that identity politics needs to go the way of the dodo.”
