a new scheme by trump to distract from epstein files, at first it was ice raids, then to venuezuela, and now iran. probably invading cuba next, marco rubio is having a hard on for.

barely being reported on the news, more cuts to medicaid/care, and ACA.

This. The Israel-Saudi-United States triangle needs to be taken behind the shed.

[–] bertlewirth@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Hopefully (and I know kts just wishful thinking) a bunch of cunts in the White House and congress in prison, given that the midterms are a month or so away.

[–] GloriousGasHole@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago

Hopefully the end. I'm tired.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

The prediction I've been making since he got reinstalled is that trump will be out of office one way or another by around March--sometime after the new Congress is sworn in. I should say IF it actually does get sworn in, which is not guaranteed whatsoever--repubs have a trick up their sleeves to use a technicality in the Constitution to refuse to seat them, and if they do, I don't trust SCOTUS to try and stop them or succeed even if they do try.

Others: Canada and the EU will become closer and both will continue to pull away from the US as well as US tech. They'll also start building their militaries up more. Russia/Ukraine and US/Iran wars will drag on. Climate change will continue to be unaddressed by anyone.

The AI bubble will probably burst in 2027 but it may take longer. The longer it takes the worse the economic effects will be.

On the positive side,

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 5 hours ago

they will start throwing out ballots or votes in states, and use the usps to conveniently not work in democratic districts.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 3 points 13 hours ago

On the positive side,

Maybe we can obtain cheap Chinese RAM modules or something lol.

[–] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

On the positive side, MAGA might succeed in taking over Europe and Canada, to the point where they no longer offer any resistance. Yay.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The collapse of the Untied States. Or transformation into a dictatorship. The rest of the world continuing to cut ties with the Untied States

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 minutes ago

Replacing Canadian potash with Brawndo. It has electrolytes.

More pain and agony from fascists.

The Bell Riots. Unfortunately that means we’re also on the wrong side of WW3 timeline wise but hey it’s progress right

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 44 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Earth will level up and we will all awaken the use of mana. With this we will solve the fosil fuels crisis, solve world hunger, unite humanity, create wealth parity and AI will be obsolete. But we will have to sent our earthen warriors to represent us in a battle royal against alliens whose planets also leveled up. If our warriors do well, we will unlock even more mana, but if they do badly, we won't improve our mana capacities.

That or same as the past years, just everything a little bit shittier. I'm hoping for #1 for obvious reasons.

[–] Anachu@leminal.space 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

ah but you must be aware that the awakening of mana in humans will lead to wild animals awakening mana too. this in turn will cause most of the land on our planet to be overrun with beasts, while empowered birds and fish will make travel by boat/plane nearly impossible

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, but we can teleport, also some mana users may be able to tame or create artifacts to tame some mana beasts making them essential in everyday life. But yeah, at the start it would be quite a challange, specially the oceans as they are already scary enough without monsters in them.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 13 hours ago

Okay this is a JRPG plot right? (Secret of Mana? Hahaha)

It sounds awesome lol.

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wasn't really really going for a certain work or franchise but rather using a very commun trope in Korean comics.

Is Goblinization worth a read?

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago

That's what the event is called in the Shadowrun lore in which people spontaneously started to turn into all sorts of meta humans. I would argue there are Shadowrun novels worth reading, yeah

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 2 days ago (2 children)

A repeat of the 1930s in germany. Conservatives, being desperate to remain in power helping nazis gain power

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Nazis are already in power. Have you heard Steven Miller speak?

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Excuse me old chum but you need to hop on the US-centric train posthaste!

(/s in case necessary, but "silly" not "sarcastic")

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

hop on the US-centric train

Ah, that must be the single U.S train I've been hearing so much about!

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Excuse me but we have like a half dozen or so! :)

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Lol you're totally right I'm just playin. That's still way too little for such a huge country!

We really need a lot more. I rode the BART in the California Bay Area and it was awesome. I wish we could get that all over.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Just playin' back. And we have lots more than a half dozen, but we really do need more.

I moved to Hampton Roads and actually have decent access to Amtrak (although haven't had the money to go anywhere since we've been here), but the VAST majority of the nation has no easy access.

I'd much prefer that we had like half as much rail as we do air travel. I'd like it to be super common, and I'd like to take it everywhere :)

And yes, more light rail, too. We had DART add lines while I still lived in DFW, and that was nice - if you were anywhere close. heh

Let's finish Sherman's work! Without conservatives existing, 2027 will bring us peace.

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A new plague, more global warning, and more wealth disparity. Continue that every year for the foreseeable future.

I'm hopeful that bad things happen to people in power. It probably won't happen, but I'm hopeful

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

The same since 2010. Stupid people in charge making stupid decisions in favour of the few with money.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (7 children)

In the US, midterms are just over a month away. New officeholders will take office early next year. As things stand, the Democrats are very probably going to take the House of Representatives and looking more likely than not to take the Senate. Either will give them the power to conduct investigations into Executive Branch activity. I would predict unprecedented use of this power. I'd bet that a lot of Trump administration figures are going to be spending most of the next two years sitting in front of Congress being grilled and with the Executive turning over information on its activities to Congress, some which will probably wind up in the press.

[–] zip@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 2 days ago

I sure hope you're right; although I unfortunately don't expect things to go that way... I don't have much hope or faith left. :(

[–] AskewLord@piefed.social 10 points 2 days ago

Democrats will take congress but they won't do anything with their power. They never have, why would it be any different this time?

Easily the worst "happy new years" glasses. It's been downhill since 2020 for those.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Fuck off, no way, it's 1998, 2027 is the distant dystopian future. 😭
