I showed this meme to my dog and he said

That screen is twice as big as you never need The hubris of your specie know no boundaries Your kind turned our paradise among the stars into a tomb

I love my dog

Children are so wise.

Just the other day, mine told me, "Not a 'yes sir'. Not a follower. Fit the box, fit the mold, have a seat in the foyer. Take a number. I was lightning before the thunder."

What does “raising your words” look like in this scenario?

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

Maybe something like, ^dont^ ^lick^ ^your^ ^paws^

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

[–] Zensate@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (3 children)

What the hell does "raise your words" mean if it isn't about volume?

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 50 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Cut him some slack, he's a dog - he's trying his best.

[–] wraekscadu@vargar.org 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I ABSOLUTELY adore your fursona. So cute! Very cute profile banner too!

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Aww, thank you! That's really nice of you to say!

[–] poolcritter@pawb.social 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Stuck on Voyager; do you have any images? :3c

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is the one that both the profile pic and the banner are from!

[–] poolcritter@pawb.social 1 points 1 day ago

Aww, cute kobolds! Thank you

It means to elevate your language, rather than just get loud. Raise as in rise above.

[–] bl4ckp1xx13@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I feel like it wouls be better to substitute elevate into that whole phrase rather than raise.

[–] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 days ago

But elevate and raise are synonymous, and the double entendre is kind of the whole point, here. I have no idea how it worked in the original Arabic, as this is a quote from medieval Sufi poet, Rumi. But I assume there was a similar clever play on words happening.

[–] NotAnOtter@lemmus.org 4 points 3 days ago

I think it's supposed to mean raise the quality of your argument. It's ironically really poorly written.

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

True, but those that ignore thunder often catch the lightning. (cracks knuckles)

I'm sure that was quite insightful, but my VPN blocked it. (might want to run your anti virus software, BTW.)

Can't tell if you're trolling me but:

Invidious is literally a front-end for YouTube. Also, I recommend adblock on your browser. Mine is ok.

[–] TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I got a paid subscription to adblock plus and Use a VPN. That's odd there was a video there at one point...

Why would you even yell at your dog for licking its paws

If you have a problem with an animal licking itself, don't have a pet

[–] DrBanjo@reddthat.com 8 points 3 days ago

I wouldn't yell, but do ask them to stop. They can lick so much they have raw skin and hurt themselves. And also sometimes the sound of licking will drive me batshit

[–] Ironfacebuster@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Small dogs (in my experience, I have a 13+ year old small dog) will start to compulsively lick their paws, sometimes it's neurological, sometimes it's allergies. I have tried just about everything I could think of, socks, bitter spray, changing my floor cleaner, everything but getting her tested for allergies. She's done it pretty much the entire time my family has had her, so I'll feel real dumb if it turns out to be allergies, assuming my family didn't test her before I had to start taking care of her

Side tangent, I didn't know you could get at home allergy tests, are those any good?

But thunder makes you get inside instead of standing in the rain.
