Not to worry, I have fully enchanted, trimmed, netherite gear. I also rock a Shulker with all the items required for a mobile base. ;D

I'm not saying people are not entitled for recognition as the the perpetuators and propagators (there's a better word, but it escapes me at the moment) of innovative ideas and designs, nor am I suggesting that they not be allowed to profit on those assets, ither tangible or conceptual. Where the line should be drawn is when those ideas become so cosmopolitan in their reach as to be necessary for existence. A few things do exist that fit this bill already, the Internet itself being one of them. One company or government may own the servers it resides on, but as a concept nobody can "own" the internet, just as no one can "own" the ocean, or a holy text, or "own" an experience (the set dressing and location perhaps, but not YOUR feelings and reactions, which are unique to YOU.)

This is a philosophy that imposes a faustian bargain to success in business: the larger your business, the less it belongs to YOU. If your business is all encompassing, (such as in a monopoly), it ceases to even be yours AT ALL.

Not trying to argue, merely provide more context.

that reminds me of that Obama Skit on Key and Peele where Obama just listed republican talking points and the republicans couldn't help but disagree with them because it was being proposed by a liberal.

they are if you like hoarding literally ALL the money.

that they expected it to eclipse real people AT ALL is both telling and slightly disturbing.

If you have discord you can DM User "Entomo" and tell him Staffy sent you. We are an 18+ server, And have a few QOL mods and a few fun things like Manhunt and Troll machine. Most everyone is over 35, FYI. The owners mother is in her Sixties and plays to help her mental state (as I understand it, everyone knows it's a slightly sore topic, so we just accept that "Mama" (as we call her,) is a little eccentric, and don't discuss it further.) We have our resident Redstone genius Woolf, our Server owner Itsserendipitous, and her Husband Chad, Neosaur who loves building spawn up each map, DirtTea our friendly "49er" who pops on mostly to chat and build for fun, Xtapokeletl whose here for the whimsy, Eissug who loves trying new things (and chickens more than Gonzo), And myself (in game) Infinity_Dragon, who loves to explore and play optimally. My wife also has an account, plus about 15 other players who have been whitelisted, but seem to only show up to work out their two week phases.

we are currently still on the 1.21.x Versions, for now.

Up front: not my server, don't have the seed, sorry.

The quest is to find a stoney peaks or windswept hills cause I'd like some emerald deepslate ore, and since our server uses a Dynmap (a program that outputs the current world map to your web browser) I wanted to "fill in" the south east portion of our world as it was little explored (while the world border on our server is set to 50K, every one kind of agrees not to go out farther than 8-12k to keep the world sizes manageable for when we switch worlds and post a download)

I use Fabulously Optimised, and Vanilla Plus Shaders. Set up is a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU with an Intel Arc A770 GPU

edit, sorry I'm new and fail at formating

I was thinking that, as it applies to Intellectual Property mostly, there comes a point at which a service or idea gains such traction and ubiquity in it's use or implementation by humanity as a whole, that to apply any form of creative control or ownership to it is morally wrong, on philosophical grounds. This could also apply to physical objects as well. In short it's the concept that Total Ubiquity defeats Copywrite and Patent as a matter of course. If said thing requires upkeep, it is not a thing that CAN be "owned" but rather operated in stewardship.

I feel in our current Late-Stage Capitalist quagmire this might be a controversial proposal, so I wanted to bounce it off of some other people to get their take on it as an idea, and if there are any similar philosophies like it (other than communism, obviously).

I got to thinking about it after landing on the Google start page and coming to the realization that so much of our world relies on what Google provides that for one corporation to be in sole control of it is a security risk in of itself. I understand I'm probably preaching to the choir here, so try to be objective in your answers please, but don't feel the need to censor yourself either. Thanks, I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

(slight deviation from topic to explain) Similar indeed! I basically said that mods blocking threats of violence [towards our fascist leadership, in this day and age] was a tacit enablement of their regime. And do PLEASE note this is not a "threat," merely a critique of moderation style. Well, the chud snowflake mods got butthurt, which, I mean...to be fair...

Yeah, I'd consider the urge to commit homicide "worse" (and as a fresh convert, let me say, I'd NEVER get away with this comment on Reddit)

I like to drive about 20 over on long hauls, so technically "I'm passing." PERMANENTLY

This. That's why it's here. The other stuff is the "why it sucks/additional info"

Reddit banned me for some political commentary in their BS way, and it looks like it's going to stick this time. Hello, I am u/TheStaffmaster and have been a contributing member of r/minecraft and r/hermitcraft for YEARS. In fact almost all of my karma came from r/minecraft! Not being able to post there is going to sting, but hopefully I'll at least be able to show off my builds.

The worst is r/AskReddit for bots. And the worst part of that is that those questions are ridiculously tempting low hanging fruit for people to "self ban." The one that got me was "how do you think the trump administration will end." The amount of [Removed by Reddit] tags was telling, I must say. I've been trying to get to talk with an actual person, but we all know how that goes. 😒

r/AskReddit had a thread that asked how people thought the trump administration would end. I have never seen so many [Post removed by Reddit] notifications. I complained that not being able to threaten violence against these TEMU Nazis was just enabling them. Yeah...

I appealed, because, Show me where exactly I actually made a"credible threat of violence" BRUH. I was just complaining that I couldn't, not saying I was going to. FFS. (I EVEN POINTED OUT THIS DISTINCTION IN THE POST!!) 12+ fucking years. Over 53K in comment karma. Poof.

So I did research to find alts for Ye olde Reddits and this place seemed to be the most recommended. So here I am! The real pisser is that I mostly used reddit to interact with the minecraft/hermitcraft fandoms, and was a member in (VERY) good standing in those communities. Reddit is going to hell in a handbasket and it's infuriating to watch. It used to be so lovely to post there, but this over reliance on AI moderation is going to be the death of it. Especially on the more political side of it.

Anyway, I hope this place works out better.
