Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Sunday predicted that Democrats will impeach Trump for a third time between his two presidencies if they take control of the House after the November midterm elections.

Jordan suggested in an interview on “Cats Roundtable,” the WABC 770 AM radio show hosted by John Catsimatidis, that Democrats will take the legislative branch’s oversight capability “and turn it into a weaponization of government.”

“They say they’re not going to, but we know they will –– they’ll do a third impeachment of President Trump,” Jordan told the host. “But that’s just part of it. They’re going to investigate the first family, they’re going to investigate cabinet secretaries.”

I don't know who Jim Jordan is, but I predict a third Trump term.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

Laws or enforcement doesn't seem to mean anything in the USA any more.

[–] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Impeachment means nothing if the Senate does not remove him from office. Which they won’t because the corporate overlords are making money hand over fist becoming the worlds gas station.

[–] abc@suppo.fi 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why would a Republican make statements that make people vote Democrat?

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Half of united statesians still like trump our country is fucked

[–] abc@suppo.fi 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I mean his approval rating is -22.4 -- 37.5% approving, 60.1% disapproving.

https://www.natesilver.net/p/trump-approval-ratings-nate-silver-bulletin

But the reason might be something stupid, like if gas prices suddenly go down a week before the elections, everybody's suddenly happy about him.

Exactly, a bunch of those disapprovings will still vote for him they just disapprove of gas prices at the moment

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 134 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yes. That's the idea asshole.

Consequences for crimes.

Fuck around, find out.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I thought you dumbasses professed to be the "law and order" party? Guess that was just another big fucking lie like all your other claims...

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (2 children)

The biggest bullshit is that legally speaking, he will get away with everything he did. the supreme court declared that everything the president does is legal. that was some major bullshit.

Rep. Jim Jordan, predicts you will get wet, if it rains

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fight fascism.

Like actually fight it.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 10 points 2 days ago

As long as conservatives continue to exist in the U.S., Sherman's work is not finished.

I sure hope it doesn't end with just impeaching donnie, either.

All of his accomplices should be hounded with lawsuits and prison time for the rest of their miserable lives.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 19 points 3 days ago (5 children)

The Guiliani effect should be the bare minimum.

Impeachment means nothing. Removal is where it’s at.

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Impeachment itself means nothing. But they can open investigations into all sorts of stuff under the guise of impeachment preparation. They can bring everything to light and leak it all to the press. Done correctly, the whole first family can be dragged through the gutters forever.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 16 points 3 days ago

Done correctly

Two little words doing some heavy lifting there.

Dems couldn't "done correctly" a fuck in a brothel.

We should impeach Gymnasium Jordan as well.

[–] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 26 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I guess Jim Jordan has more faith in Democrats than I do...

[–] Goforce5@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Oh, the Democrats wont hesitate to impeach him. They know it gets them brownie points, while nothing tangible actually happens.

Oh great, because the last 2 did so much!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It made MAGA jump through hoops in a panic, and the entire world was talking about Trump's corruption. That's not nothing.

And history will NEVER forget it. It's never a bad idea to put an evil dictator's crimes on the permanent written record for all time.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Any time and effort they spend fighting impeachment is less time they spend fucking up everything else.

[–] Wirlocke@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Literally everyone I knew thought impeachments automatically kicked you out of office until his first one, and it's insane that they don't do that.

Impeachment is analogous to Indictment in criminal law

[–] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Basically everything requires agreement between the house and the senate. The house impeaches, and the senate convicts, thereby agreeing with the house. If they disagree, it stops there just like any other legislation.

[–] Wirlocke@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I feel like the big official sounding word of "impeachment" should be reserved for after the Senate convicts. Otherwise it's just a meaningless gesture on behalf of the House.

I began searching to see how Bill Clinton was removed, then I realized the Senate acquitted him and his term naturally ended later that month. Andrew Johnson also wasn't convicted.

This mechanism of removing the president from office has literally never worked before! The whole impeachment process is an overhyped nothing burger!

Edit: I should add that all three presidents had the majority of Senate vote to convict at least one of the impeachment charges, but they needed a 2/3rds supermajority because why not?

Impeachment? This dude should be in an old folks home. He's barely lucid, and they've been doing a Weekend at Bernies for 2 years with his barely there corpse.

If they weren't complicit in his crimes, he'd have been removed from office a long time ago.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He should be in solitary confinement serving hundreds of consecutive life sentences

[–] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Id only accept a cold ditch in many pieces so his soul cannot reach the shadowlands, requiring him to roam the shithole he's created and polluted forever

[–] buzz86us@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Can we make him face consequences for Epstein, and his felony convictions too?

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

SCOTUS says no. So, we need to remove them first.

We need to make it illegal for conservatives to hold any position of authority. Conservatism can bring only oppression, sickness and death. History has proven this throughout all recorded history.

[–] III@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He didn't rape all of those children while in office so SCOTUS can go fuck themselves.

Nazi symbols, KKK propaganda and confederate flags need to be completely destroyed, and these fools shouldn’t be allowed to spread their views on public platforms. They need to be constantly harassed and humiliated out of existence.

We should be targeting and eliminating white religio-nationalist organizations and purging their influence from all levels of government, especially law enforcement.

Fascists take advantage of free speech to spread their subversive views and seize power.

Oh I know how to prevent that. STOP DOING CRIMES!

[–] artyom@piefed.social 37 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Holy shit would they have a long list of charges at this point...

Democrats will take the legislative branch’s oversight capability “and turn it into a weaponization of government.”

Don't forget to always accuse others of the shit you're doing.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

…third (ineffective) impeachment. Impeachment is useless if it’s effectively meaningless.

[–] deadalus@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

Like most laws about what a government official (especially the president) can and can't do. The amount of illegal shit trump does on the daily is insane. But who will be successful in actually making him face consequences?

[–] IamMoonPie@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

And nothing will come of it again because democrats are spineless.

[–] hark@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

What did the first two impeachments accomplish? His term wasn't cut short and he faced no consequences at all. Maybe democrats think the impeachments count as a "black mark" on his record or some dumb thing like that, but in practice they didn't matter. Democrats had the opportunity to prosecute trump after 2020 with plenty to prosecute him for, including Jan 6th, and yet they sat around and did nothing for four years. I'm sick of this dog and pony show.

[–] churrodestroyer@lemmy.zip 23 points 3 days ago
[–] benderbeerman@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Sounds a little like Gym Jordan is trying to get democrats to take control of the House

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I predict they’ll capitulate and let bygones be pedophiles.

This is the kind of bi-partisan nature I expect in the US.

Republicans campaigning for Democrats and Democrats campaigning for Republicans.
