I don't get the hate in the comments. there is plenty to complain with firefox but adding the pdf features is not one of them.

Much of Lemmy believes that if a person or entity does one bad thing, then the person or entity itself is bad. Of course taken to the logical conclusion this means that we would all have to live in caves to be moral. But each of those lemmy users has their own set of mental gymnastics for why their chosen set of conveniences is justified.

Anyone more moral than me is insane and anyone less moral than me is hitler. /s

Double triple quadruple +1 on BentoPDF.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is that additive or multiplicative?

Is that +10 or +24?

I hope you're happy. I divided because you said 'yes' and it made me ugly!

I just now became ugly because of what you did.

Came here to recommend Bento, it's fantastic

stirlingpdf is good too for self hosting

I've been using Firefox for a while now. I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't understand why people hate it so much.

[–] CancerMancer@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Firefox is obviously way worse than supporting the unholy amount of data harvesting being done by billionaires enabling them to control even more of our lives... Right?

Taking screenshots of each page and stitching them together into one enormously long jpg in Gimp:

In case any Mac users are unaware, any Mac with OS post 2007 can do this natively with Preview. It’s very handy.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Ah so THAT'S what preview can do. My mother-in-law asked and I had nothing to tell her.

[–] WolfLink@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

It does almost everything people need Adobe Acrobat for, and also you can make some minor adjustments to photos like cropping, and convert between formats.

You can do a bit with it. View PDFs, enter info in fields, mark things up, draw basic images, compose images into others, sign documents, etc.

I keep a copy of my signature in preview for work. Love it.

[–] kestrel7_7@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Preview is great for making low effort memes

LibreOffice Draw also works really well for merging pdfs

Can delete one page in a PDF in Firefox?

UPDATE: this feature is coming soon! It's in the nightly versions of Firefox

[–] Railcar8095@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"Print as PDF", select the pages to print. That's universal.

[–] MisterD@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Not quite what I wanted but it should work.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I've been using pdfsam since before I remember, I know it has a funky interface, and it has premium at cost features, but for basic split and merge it's fine

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

YSK, PDF files can harbor significant risks, this has been ongoing for years, vulnerabilities crop up and they get patched. More crop up, meaning who knows what is currently unpatched?

From February of this year:

While this is certainly neat, I can also highly recommend PDF Arranger. I've been using it forever and it can do all types of PDF stitching.
