I've been using Firefox for a while now. I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't understand why people hate it so much.
Firefox is obviously way worse than supporting the unholy amount of data harvesting being done by billionaires enabling them to control even more of our lives... Right?
Damn, I used to think Firefox was at least slightly less secure than Chrome and other browsers. But after learning more about data collection, I’m going to start using Brave instead. This capitalist world is crazy—many Android apps contain trackers and collect far more data than they need. It feels like nothing is truly safe because every option has its own problems. It’s frustrating that companies such as Google collect and profit from people’s personal data. Their greed seems endless: they always want more users and more data to monetize.
Brave is literally a crypto scam ran by a bigot that replaces publishers ads with its own, WHY would you use it 😭
Not even fucking remotely. Brave is text book example of good PR and lies. They lie their fucking ASS off and have fantastic PR so that word of mouth stays positve so people dont realize how actually fucked they are.
If you think Firefox collects too much data about you. Which I doubt. You can go with any privacy focused Firefox fork such as libre wolf. Why would you go to a chrome based browser?
Some people say Brave is almost on the same level as Firefox for blocking ads, but others don't like it because it's too similar to Chrome. I'm still not sure which browser to use, so I'll check F-Droid for a more secure option
Brave is LITTERALLY chrome but with a built in ad blocker. Thats it. If you think firefox harvests your data like mad i have some bad news about brave.
Brave sucks, they have scammy built-in crypto stuff and the CEO is a bigot. They’ve also been caught doing shady stuff like injecting their own ads in place of other ads. If you care about privacy and no ads, just use Firefox + ublock, or Librewolf.
Why not just use Firefox, though.
It isn't "too similar to Chrome"; it is Chrome. Brave is a Chrome-based browser.
Here's a really in-depth article about why Brave is sketchy. Without even getting into the CEO's politics, the company itself has done several scummy things over the years.
What I recommend is using Zen Browser with uBlock Origin.
What data collection is Firefox doing?
