This past one, did some geocaching with my lovely lady, followed by a nap, some errands and popping into my local haunt for a pint and a little pinball (this has been becoming rarer as of late but I like stopping by and saying hi when the opportunity arises).

Been really into geocaching recently, it's a fun excuse for a walk :)

On-Road Driving course.

Learnt how to do vehicle checks, VPOWER.

And in-cab pre-drive checks, name everything from left to right in the cab.

Then went out weaved some cones, and practised hard braking on dirt at 80kmh.

And crawling up a small hill at 45 degrees. Park on hill, engine off, gear into reverse, park-brake off, and then restart engine to idle back down.

Pretty good day.

suffer and survive.
weekdays are better.

I go to Sabbot study at my local park. Then I chill outside and prep for my shift the next day.

it's sunday but chilling all day after i went out till 4am yesterday (to the local hackerspace, i was trying to 3d-print some stuff)

It heavily varies.

Today we went to a picnic/party with my wife's (and son's) Karate studio. Every couple months there's a Karate event of some kind, on a Saturday.

I'll often spend an hour or two doing yardwork, if it's needed.

Ideally, every other week, once of my son's friends comes over, and we all play D&D for an hour or two. That used to be on every other Friday, when I don't work, but since my wife now has work stuff every Friday evening, we have quite transitioned that over to a regular pace on Saturdays.

If there's a moviebwe feel like going to see in theatres, it usually happens on a Saturday. Also sometimes bowling.

Every three weeks, I take a short trip to library with my son, in the morning, to either renew or exchange our books.

Once a month, we'll go to the library in the next town over for Chess Club.

We DO pretty much always swap out and wash bedsheets on Saturdays.

Lounge in bed together for an extra hour or two, have a coffee, and watch a show or college game day. Make some breakfast. Work on little projects or hobbies (today we need to go empty a storage unit before the next billing cycle), maybe go swimming, run some errands, maybe haircut or nails, maybe have friends over in the evening or have a date night.

ETA- forgot to mention my favorite weekend activity-the rerack! Wake up early, browse my phone or read for a bit until you start to feel the sleepies, and then go completely back to sleep for an hour. I don't know why, but it feels like the best sleep ever, and you wake up feeling so good and rested.

A friend of mine has a housewarming and birthday party at the same time, I'll go there.

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The question isn’t about this Saturday; it’s about a Saturday, meaning any typical Saturday.

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

They have a lot of friends who move and have birthdays

[–] orenj@leminal.space 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Avoid family while making dinner for them somehow

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What's for dinner tonight?

[–] orenj@leminal.space 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Burritos, with a side of chips and salsa. Prolly gonna dip out once its done

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nice. I always like to grill (or air fry) the burrito for a little texture contrast, but everyone else finds it a waste of time.

This sounds a bit more serious than I originally took it as you just wanted some peace and quiet from family. I avoid most of my family, and I see them maybe 2-4 times a year, but this sounds like less of an option for you. It sounds like you're trying to be the bigger person by showing up with food even though you don't want to. I wish you the best of whatever your situation is. β™₯️

[–] orenj@leminal.space 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nice, i finish mine in the air fryer too. I used to do it in the oven, but nobody else ever really seemed to care one way or another, so i just do it for mine now.

And thanks, its pretty much exactly how you're imagining. I'm luckily going to be out of this particular situation by next year, so there's hope on the horizon. Moving out's been a long time coming.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm glad there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Getting away from my family is the second best thing I've ever done for myself, after getting my depression treated, which I of course, blame on so many years of not being able to get away from them!

I will support you in spirit as your crispy burrito bro!

[–] Newhere@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

How you a make burritos? Never did...

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I usually keep frozen ones (chili cheese) from the store that I toss in the air fryer for lazy lunches.

Otherwise, the fun is you really just roll up whatever you please in a tortilla. I will usually use leftover roast chicken shredded up, corn, rice, black beans, and cheese. Warming the tortilla helps you fold it up without it tearing.

It's like a sandwich, both in function and construction. They're dry on the outside and sealed so it's portable and a self-contained meal. Also like the sandwich, you can use a recipe, but the fun is getting all the ingredients and their proportions toy our exact tastes.

If you do want a basic recipe and to see how everything is assembled, this is a really simple video showing construction of a slightly dressed up bean burrito.

You can also put them in a baking dish, pour enchilada sauce on top, and you have enchiladas instead if you want something saucy.

[–] Newhere@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Thanks! All tortilas here are just breaking when trying to fold,so I will try to warm them up before or make it myself. P.s. video is so nice, the kid in the end made me laugh so much. πŸ˜†

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Yeah, some are just not pliable enough. Heating on a skillet or in the microwave. I usually microwave with a damp paper towel, but I went to find you a vid of a nice floppy and pliable tortilla and this guy was doing it in a ziplock and it looks like it came out great without the paper towel and water, so I'm going to try this out myself next time.

(I just watched that other video to the very end where the littlest kids is like eh, I don't like it and left! πŸ˜‚ I stopped before that when I sent it to you, I mainly checked to make sure the guy didn't do anything weird in his recipe or get annoying.)

[–] mesamunefire@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

Fuckin around on the phone while my dog is outside. Reading a new Mat Dinniman book. Its a good day.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Saturday is a day dedicated to me. I've felt not great physically all year, so I've been drained from my Mon-Fri job. Saturdays my wife works a 12 hour shift, so I sleep in (the plan is until 8, but it's been more to 10-11 lately) and the rest of the day is watching movies my wife won't watch (horror, war, or just plain slow, weird, or subtitled) and practicing piano.

Sunday is dedicated to the animal rehab in the AM and chores in the PM, so that's why I claim Saturday.

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 2 points 2 days ago

I didn't even realize it was Saturday. I had a good wank, worked out, took a shower, and played some games. Took care of the outdoor plants and the birdbath. Now I'm making some lasagna.

[–] lasta@piefed.world 6 points 2 days ago

Around this time of year I usually prepare fruits and vegetables in various ways to last for the winter: spreads, jams, pickled/soured, made into liquor/liqueur.

Sometimes I’ll invite friends and relatives over for lunch or dinner, or visit them. Once in a while I’ll travel out a bit farther for an event.

During busy periods at work, I’ll catch up on weekends because it lets me work without interruptions and take it easy during weekdays.

And other times I’ll chill at home with a good book or TV series.

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Cereal, cartoons, and video games in the morning. Supermarket run and laundry after the peak rush in the afternoon

[–] dropdrip@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

I wake up early to watch the cartoons.

[–] antifa_ceo@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Sleep in. DSA meetings in the afternoon usually

[–] Technoworcester@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This Saturday? On holiday in Amsterdam and struggling to get off the sofa and move.

Might move for snacks in a bit.

Go sailing! ...and then get drawn back into hackin' after I get home.

[–] raptore39@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Saturday morning there is only one CrossFit class, a partner workout, which is always fun to do. Otherwise I would sit and watch some YouTube

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 days ago

work, probably my busiest day of the week at work

[–] monovergent@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Groceries, gaming, looking at various niche hobby sites that I only check on a weekly basis

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

I do some house chores in the morning. If I've been eating properly during the week I'll usually make an exception for Saturday and order something for lunch or dessert. Then I'll just relax and play some game, watch TV or hang out with my favorite person.

[–] mub@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Mostly get called names on Rocket league, go to the garden centre or a stately home, or break my pc again. Keeps me happy.

[–] CurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry I'm not sure we have these where I live. What is a 'stately home'?

[–] mub@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Very very old big historic house.

[–] PetteriPano@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Prepping my caravan for winter storage. Mattresses, cushions go out. Liquids get drained. Batteries and gas bottles go in the garage. Tyres get inflated to their max spec to keep shape over winter.

[–] gon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Read and hangout!

[–] Luca@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 days ago
[–] GreyShuck@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

Typically a lie in, some gaming and a few chores in the morning, then some garden work (raking the meadow area today, after the annual cut a few days back), or DIY or errends or something in the afternoon, then film night.
