I think it just comes down to ancient greeks were subconsciously kinky as fuck when they "Divined" these stories into existence

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Subconsciously? Nah, they were conscious of it.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Today people are just monsterfuckers. Back then they wrote their fanfics about fucking the literal gods.

[–] ieightpi@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

I get it. Godly beings were probably perceived as smokin hot

Makes sense when you realize the Greek pantheon was basically all siblings and cousins of each other.

[–] LouNeko@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago

OK, lets not pretend that the "goddesses" weren't little deviant degenerates themselves.

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 52 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

They did everyone. Not just the women, but the men, animals and young boys too.

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 25 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like the Trump administration.

Heyoooooo

[–] SourDragon@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Na. They're not attracted to anyone over the age of 13.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I am no expert but missed that part, I recall zeus himself taking the form of animals to bang mortal woman more than once, and Hera's vindictive changing into a fly was it, flying in a woman's ear, then going person again and exploding their head? I probably got that story wrong.

Did Zeus or his kids or brothers fuck actual animals themselves?

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

Not the Olympians that I know of. But Pasiphae was a goddess, daughter of Helios, who fucked the Cretan Bull and gave birth to the Minotaur.

[–] Embargo@lemmy.zip 31 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Zeus pretending to be an injured swan in order to rape a lady is some of the wildest shit I've ever read.

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 18 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't Perseidon also have sex with Medusa (maybe consensual, maybe not) in Athena's temple and Athena turned her into a gorgon?

Daedalus build a fake cow, so Pasiphaë (daughter of the god Helios) could position herself inside, in order to trick the Cretan Bull into mating with her. She later gave birth to Asterion, also called the Minotaur.

In Ovid's version yes. It wasn't consensual either.

Daedalus build a fake cow, so Pasiphaë (daughter of the god Helios) could position herself inside, in order to trick the Cretan Bull into mating with her. She later gave birth to Asterion, also called the Minotaur.

This is another case of Poseidon strikes again.

Poseidon gave the bull as a gift to Minos the king of Crete, expecting him to sacrifice it. Minos instead likes the bull a lot and decides he wants to keep it, so he sacrifices another one. Poseidon in his anger causes his wife Pasiphaë who is indeed the daughter of Helios (or Sol) to fall in love with the bull. She willingly recruits Daedalus to build the fake cow for her so she could trick the bull into mating with her.

Poseidon is just as bad as Zeus. He chases Demeter who attempts to avoid him by transforming into a mare. Instead he turns into a stallion and rapes her.

Immortality leads to boredom. Boredom leads to stupid decisions.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 11 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

I got bored and installed a bunch of shelves in my garage. It seems to have been a pretty good decision.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 7 points 7 hours ago

Give it a few thousand years, eventually you'd fuck those shelves and spawn a race of shelf-men.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 10 points 14 hours ago

Yes, but are you an immortal god?

[–] Kyrrrr@mander.xyz 3 points 14 hours ago

Stupid decisions lead to fear. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.

[–] inari@piefed.zip 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

These gods sound a lot like regular people

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

That's one of the things that makes greek and norse mythology appealing IMO. They make mistakes like we do. They get horny, they fuck and they fuck up.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 5 points 10 hours ago

Especially so with the norse mythology, the gods are like people that have achieved magic and immortality. Too bad celtic and gaulic and germanic and the rest of the barbarian mythology has mostly been lost to history because they weren't given to letters. Which is the definition of a barbarian tribe according to some, if they wrote shit down.

[–] RQG@lemmy.world 13 points 14 hours ago

Makes them also more believable and causes less logical issues.

Once you make someone or something all knowing and all powerful things stop making any sense.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It's always greener on the other side

[–] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Or the inside, as it were.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

You might want to see a doctor about that.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip -4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

This seems like a goddess issue more than a god issue.
