Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

[–] FluorideMind@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Same... Except that one thing.

[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 day ago

Yk this is about how C-PTSD went for me

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 80 points 2 days ago (2 children)

No, no, I'm definitely cis. Ignore the force-fem, pegging, and chastity kinks, those are definitely unrelated to any gender identity issues I've been repressing for most of my life.

If you also use Linux I have some news for you…

[–] Elting@piefed.social 37 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Gender is what operating system you use.

[–] SourGumGum@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What gender am I if I use templeos?

[–] Elting@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

Is schizophrenic a gender?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Are they writing "Hump" in the 5th panel?

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Literaly why I'm a voraphile, not a joke.

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You are under zero pressure to answer this, and please just ignore me if this is a personal question, because I would never ask you to relive your trauma, but I have to say I'm curious.

What real life event could possibly give you a fetish for being swallowed whole?

(Also, always nice meeting a fellow voraephile! Are you more a fan of the cozy safe snuggled up in tummy kind or the digested and dead kind?)

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I had someone explain it to me that it's the warm cozy constricted thing that does it for them, but to me it seems wild to jump to getting eaten.

If I tossed a heated blanket and weighted blanket on a vore enthusiast, would they feel cozy or horny? Both?

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 1 points 14 hours ago

I mean it's a case by case basis, but me personally, I would feel cozy, but not horny. Sorry, but a pile of blankets can't look me in the eyes as it licks its lips, or sensually wrap its tongue around me as it covers me in saliva, and feel its throat muscles squeeze me as I slide down. A pile of blankets wouldn't be able to rub its belly and ask if I'm okay in there, and remind me how much it loves me as I drift off to sleep.

Most importantly, though, everyone says they've been inside their significant others. I actually have -- and I can thus say authoritatively that they are just as beautiful on the inside.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

I was morbidly disturbed by...well, just thing getting eaten in Cartoons, until I got eaten in a dream.

TL;DR I developed a fetish before I knew what sex was.

(Also, I have gone softer I guess. But I need to be claimed and tasted at least, sometimes digested)

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 34 points 2 days ago (2 children)

this has been a trend on 196.

not every kink is related to trauma.

[–] Gonzako@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Oh, yeah defo. I can clearly see which kinks I've developed through trauma and which were just the blooming of my pervert mind

[–] libewa@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

Sigmund Freud not impressed. (I really need to make reaction memes for this)

[–] AcidBurn@retrofed.com 27 points 2 days ago

Ouch!

(And not in a good way)

[–] notsure@fedia.io 25 points 2 days ago

....I am in this picture and have been made strandely arouseed, or even strangely

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The original says "humour"

Some humors can be kinks too

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The only bleeding from a healthy body is menstruation and that's not very sexy... Some excreted fluids are way more attractive but they're not among the 4 classic humors...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Sometimes when any number of people are getting freaky they get knives out and make some superficial incisions because they think blood is hot (which is fair, it's the hot and wet humor)

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Reminds me of the main character in the show Furious.
