/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

This style of sitting down happened because Johnathan Frakes had lower back pain and this was easier to do. Still cool though. I do it with all low-back chairs.

I will never understand how this was easier on his back, but if the man wants to UTTERLY DOMINATE ALL SEATING IN THE QUADRANT for his own comfort, then I say let him.

Reminds me of the reason for the West Wing Jacket Flip maneuvre

Can we choose a meme format with someone who isn't completely insubordinate to their captain? There's a chain of command for a reason and his disregard for captain Jelico's orders was way out of line!

Psh. Substitute captain jello was way out of line for disrupting a ship he knew he was just visiting

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And could be taking into battle soon. Yeah let's disrupt everyone on the ship then get mad when they aren't at peak efficiency in a few hours. Because my way is always better.

okay, this right here. you want to know the difference between the good managers and the bad managers i've had? the good ones, when they have come in, have taken like three or four months before doing ANYTHING. They went and worked through all the roles they managed, doing the work themselves and getting taught by the people they managed so they could understand the issues.

captain jello was not that manager

It’s no coincidence he plays the trombone.

It's the best way to sit down if you're tall. If I tried something like that it'd end up looking like a Tim Robinson skit.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

He sat that way because his balls were sore from a few hours in the holodeck.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago

I do this sometimes too. Stupid small chairs

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

No. He’s absolutely right.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

This is a great way to sit on your balls.

If that's the goal, then you do you.

Oh man that little twinge you feel in your belly when you sit on your balls is so hot.

~~Wait was this during his SA trial? Why am I so certain he pulled this during his trial~~

No wait he does this ALL the time??

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, Jonathan Frakes has an old hip injury that caused him pain when he sat down normally, and he's, like, seven feet tall, so stepping over the chair was just easier for him.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah, but does that really make sense? How does just sitting normally aggravate his hip, but approaching a chair this way doesn't? Ultimately, you still have to bend your hips to sit on your butt.

I think he just does it cuz he can.

From back when he moved furniture for a living
