People who gatekeep fucking food can just shove it in their mouths and shut the fuck up.

People who gatekeep fucking food …

How about we don’t fuck food at all

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 26 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Whoa. You're the worst kind of gatekeeper. Simultaneously gatekeeping food and kink shaming.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (9 children)

Then you explain it to your mother. That pie was supposed to be for eating, not for sating your carnal lust.

Pizza gate keeping is amusing, no that isn't real pizza! OK, wtf is it then?

[–] square@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I do think a lot of things called pizza should be called flatbreads or something, but this is the first time I've ever expressed that opinion. It's just not that important.

What kind of life do people like this lead where they think EVERY SINGLE PASSING THOUGHT they have is SO important and insightful that they need to get it all out there?

It’s honestly shocking how much worse the art has gotten, considering he’s been doing it for decades: https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2026/07/24/the-leto-protocol

I mean, this is a top 3 boilerplate response to someone sharing something boring online. Sharing is generally a pretty meaningful activity for humans. Sharing person to person is a lot better for us than shouting things out on social media but that’s the model that’s provided and the behavior that’s being modeled.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

It's boilerplate because it's still true and people STILL can't tell the difference between insightful, useful information to share, and spewing stream of consciousness like they're a junior high school student who just learned about the concept and is ABSOLUTELY certain they're about to blow the world's mind with their unique and mind-blowing interpretations.

By the time you're old enough to be jetsetting, it's just pitiful.

[–] Jtotheb@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I dunno what to tell you, I’m just pointing out that it’s not much of an original insight either. Menial, non life changing conversations are perfectly normal and fine. In my opinion what’s weird is how few people are in our lives and how little time we have to talk to them, and also the giant bullhorn in everyone’s hands when they go online. Everything becomes a stance instead of just shooting the shit and getting reproached when you are too much of an asshole about your dumb little opinion. This guy chatting in the corner with some colleagues about liking empanadas more than burgers? Seems pretty harmless.

If I am at an airport, I'm probably not gonna eat anything because I refuse to pay $50 for a single meal.

The airport is a wild place to judge and gatekeep others. Everyone is stuck there waiting, and depending on specifically where, you have limited access to anything brought-in and are at the mercy of massively overpriced options.

[–] RamenJunkie@midwest.social 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Also the comment is right, the Beff Empenada is just some.boring ass basic shit but they gave it a fancy name.

If they called the burger a "Beef Slabion con Quisito" or some shit to make it spunds fancy and foreign, he wouldn't complain.

ppl eat at airports and brag about it?

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

I think they’re joking around because the idea is such insecure, hyperbolic clout chaser nonsense. It felt like a Simpson reference. “Only the most sensual dances. The lambada, the Macarena.”

Who gives a shit what you eat at an airport? That's probably the most utilitarian food imaginable. Plus, because of all the unknown international cross-contamination, there's also the major "at your own risk" consideration. Complaining, judging, negging, or memeing about who eats what at the airport in any sort of serious capacity when it doesn't affect anybody AT ALL is bizarre and gives me "we have Seinfeld at home but he's just a cringe asshole" vibes.

[–] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Airports are stressful, chaotic, and uncomfortable. I'm just surviving when I'm in one. Definitely not trying to be doing any fine dining.

People don't eat shitty overpriced airport food because they like it. They do it because they have no other choice.

The airport is a lawless place. 7AM? Have a beer. Tired? Sleep on the floor. Hungry? Chips now cost $17.

You can talk all the shit you want about MIA as the airport logistics and operations are trash, but the $6 empanadas at Versailles, la carreta on gate D37 and a couple of standalone empanada places are the best food at MIA by leaps and bounds, and way safer than any of the sushi, sandwich other of the microwave to table restaurants there.

Source : used this airport for +20 years living here.

[–] lemmylommy@lemmy.world 17 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

If he is eating at an airport his beef likely came from the same factory as the cheeseburger.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

Probably came from the same horse too.

[–] Gust@piefed.social 16 points 4 weeks ago (7 children)

Panda express is the best airport food imo. Its the only place I've consistently been able to get plain grilled chicken, white rice, and broccoli. Very boring meal, but it doesnt cause my digestive system to bloat up or twist itself into knots, which is pretty peak for air travel days

I look for the least overpriced meal and I get that meal.

Often it's a sandwich, but sometimes it's a burger. It's still overpriced, but 200% overpriced is better than 500% overpriced and pretending to be bougie.

My go to airport meal is pounding as many beers as I can at the bar so I hopefully pass out after I get on the plane.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Wine

You don't have to pee like if you drink beer

I fly from Australia to the US several times a year and rarely piss on the 15 hour flight, because I stick to wine

[–] Furbag@pawb.social 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I've got a trip to Vegas coming up in September. I'll give it a try next time.

Cheers to my Australian friends!

"I spent way too much instead of eating before I left and need to make this about being better than everyone else."

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I consider myself lucky to not have to eat at airports. When I fly, it's usually direct flights, so I only have to wait maybe an hour. Not worth it (for me) paying prices 2-3 times higher than the already ridiculous ones.

[–] FavouriteShapes@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Cheeseburger - provides a bunch of protein, fat, some salad and bread; it's an ultimately balanced meal and one designed for sustain people (e.g through flights or staying up at night/in the morning)

Some of us don't eat them that often because of our culture, anyway.

It's definitely what I would get. I always need extra protein packed all together.

Pizza - You just know it's going to be nice. Need I say more? It's less about comfort but about safety and not wasting money

Airports aside, I love it when people assume just because you like cheap food, it means you can't stomach or don't love good food, too.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

F'real man. Like, I love all sorts of food, but nothing hits quite like a really shitty cheap pizza, with that "cheese" that just comes off in a flat sheet.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah. When I eat Taco Bell, it's not because I want Mexican food. It's because I want Taco Bell.

Miami International? I think that was more likely a Cuban Uncrustable. And it was probably amazing. I’ve gotten the “fast” food at MIA (Cafe Versailles).
