That's the standard practice for speeches, where you just power through any mistakes you make while speaking and keep going.
Stopping, or going back to correct the mistake would interrupt the speech more than the mistake did.

Every so often in Canada, conservatives get to be unpopular enough they need to merge with other parties so they can win. They merged with the Progressive Party a long time ago so that's what they're called Progressive Conservative in a lot of provinces. Except in Alberta where they had to do more mergers and they're the United Conservative Party now.
Federally, the Progressive Conservative Party later merged with the Reform party and I guess "reform" cancels out "progressive" so they're just the Conservative Party at the Federal level now.
