I thought it was just me. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Ginger helps me so much with nausea, have a ginershit or a ginger ale or something like that after a meal and see if it helps

I have some Reglan for really bad days. It does help, but one of the side effects is "uncontrollable lip flapping", which is a little scary.

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, why does this happen though?

[–] rabber@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 weeks ago

Same. Eating is just a chore

Ever since it started to get hot I've been feeling sick and lost my appetite. Only until it's cooler is when I start feeling better again and my body is like "I must eat something NOW!" Rinse, lather, repeat until autumn comes around..

This is just like my wife!

even though food is good, it would be really nice to never eat again if I never had to experience the nausea

I think your problem might not be your hunger or eating unless you're eating spoiled food.

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

What do you mean? If you're saying the problem is neither then what is it?

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

If you feel nauseated regardless of whether or not you have eaten, then there is no correlation to your state of having eaten with your nausea. Something else must be causing your nausea. If it is temporary, maybe a stomach bug or some medication. If it is chronic, maybe GERD/acid reflux or gastritis.

Huh???

That's not what the OP is saying.

Sometimes when I am nauseated, it's because I haven't eaten in too long. Other times when I am nauseated, it's because I ate something that didn't agree with me or I'm sick. It becomes difficult to tell which it is until you try eating something.

If eating something ends up improving the nausea, then it was because you needed to eat. If eating ends up making the nausea worse, it's because you're sick or ate something that didn't agree with you. You can see how this then becomes a dangerous game to play.

This is not "nausea regardless of state". This is nausea where you can't tell the cause without potentially making it worse.

Have you really never been in that scenario before?

There are 3 steps in the meme. "Nauseated and having not eaten." "Eating." "And nauseated after having eaten." So this person is clearly nauseated for reason beyond hunger or having eaten, unless their nausea before was cause from hunger and the nausea after was caused by eating spoiled food.

Also hunger does not cause me nausea, so... no can't say I relate directly. It can for my wife though, so I have dealt with that situation. But if she was nauseated, ate something, and then was still nauseated, then clearly it wasnt the hunger causing her nausea. It was something else, like a flu, meds, or digestive issues.

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You're not getting it because your body doesn't do this. That's ok. Your wife probably does then.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

I don't see what there is to "get". I understand what you are saying. I'm saying that you are projecting meaning onto the meme that isn't there, or are trying to conflate it with some other meaning. The point still stands, regardless of how your body reacts to hunger, that if your nausea is persistent regardless of whether or not you have eaten recently, then your issue isnt simply related to whether you have eaten, is it? There is nothing to get beyond that.
