These things always seem to end up focusing on nationalistic border wars, or shilling for some product or personality. The one version that actually had some interesting stuff was the worldwide map one. It still had some of the nationalistic nonsense, but it seemed mostly contained to the nations themselves on the map, which left space elsewhere for people to do other shit.

Is this the flag I'm supposed to replace with Visibly Artistic, Newly Doodled Additions, Laid Intrusively Supra Merdiculae*? Or will be there a bigger one? NO KINGS, NO KINGDOMS, NO FLAGS! DEFACE THE FLAGS IN THE CANVAS! SAY «NO» TO THE DIGITAL VERSION OF IMPERIALISM!!!11one11eleven

I'm 25% joking, 75% serious with the above. I do think people should gang up against the largest country flag they find in the Canvas, whichever it is, and deface it. Not just "work around", as if you were a vassal and your suzerain "graciously" accepts your doodle over it; no, fuck those country flags, if we gang up we'll force people to either shrink or remove them. Because yes they do tend to take A LOT of space.

On another matter, since Canvas is in two weeks, I feel like I should stop being a lazy arse and prepare my template; I'm thinking of doing something silly, like a (tidied, pixellated, and waaaaay smaller) version of this:

The pic above is 320 x 200, but I think 80x50 would still look good while not wasting too much canvas space.

*sorry for the unnecessary Latin. It's just "over shit" wouldn't fit the acronym.

eleven

Is it okay that I am absolutely in love with your brain? 😍🧠

That "eleven" is an old meme :P

Yep, never were a friend of those flags. Put up pop icons or whatever, but please no stupid flags.

I think it would be nicer if they could make up something to celebrate their culture - too often flags can take on a blunt political significance, and lead to side-taking divisive bullshit. "This country good, this country bad" sort of stuff. Focusing on cultural aspects - landmarks, food, etc. - could be a way to foster cultural exchange rather than nationalistic competition

I fully agree with you. It goes three ways:

  1. Cultural aspects play better alongside other drawings.
  2. It forces you to look at what really matters for you, instead of some symbol you've been drilled to accept.
  3. Flags are typically simplistic patterns, and there's way more art on actually drawing something.

Well well well, wasn't your Enterprise D also quite the offender last time? But don't worry, we won't plant our blanket on all available benches... this time.
