An ex-GOP lawmaker has heard enough about phantom left-wing saboteurs at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and he is pointing at the only suspects who fit the evidence: the people Trump hired to clean it.

In a series of posts and a new video, former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger dismantled the administration's vandalism narrative by accepting one piece of it. Yes, he conceded, chemicals were used on the pool. The catch is who used them and why. "Just for those who are saying there was chemical sabotage to peel the paint in the reflective pool, you're right," Kinzinger wrote. "It's just, you guys did it to kill the algae."

Adding chemicals to the pool didn't cause the sealer to lift.

Even if some liberal ANTIFA Ninja trans person did slash a 250 foot gash in the sealer, that wouldn't cause it to lift - at least not in a day or two. It would just scrape a line into it. If the sealer is properly adhered to the surface, it will still bond next to the cut. That said, the slash MAY allow water to work it's way under the sealer over time, and may cause it to start lifting, but not in such a short amount of time. It would be months or years later and it would curl next to the cut first. It wouldn't be huge sections like we've seen.

I've sealed several water feature ponds made of cement over the years. I've also done epoxy floors on cement (similar process). The hard part is doing proper prep work to get it to adhere. Prep is usually 3/4 or more of the entire job. Putting the sealer or epoxy down is the easy and fun part.

This is either using the wrong sealer for the job, not prepping it properly, not applying it correctly, or not giving it ample time to cure before refilling.

My guess is they didn't prep it properly and didn't let it fully cure.

No shit. Now where are the Epstein files? What you gonna do about ICE? Doge? What about the fuckup with Iran? Are you still sucking Pissrael's dick? What about the infant you allegedly murdered? SPCX? Cost of living?

Mainstream media gonna keep status quo via distraction

Edit: forgot about venezuela and cuba

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Holy shit I forgot about ICE and Doge. These fuckers murdered two peaceful people in the street in January of this year, and the zone is so flooded that it feels like a lifetime ago.

[–] impairedimperator@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 hours ago

Two peaceful middle class white people. There's a lot more that didn't make the newsworthy cut.

[–] FukOui@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago

The fucker does so much shit it's hard to keep track of it anymore. I think I might even have missed some

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 3 points 12 hours ago

Exactly. This whole thing is stupid as hell.

He hired a company without the required expertise to paint the pool. Then dumped paint-stripping chemicals to kill the algae. And when you dump paint stripping chemicals into a painted pool the result of course looks like crap. There are no 'vandals'. Just a company that used the wrong chemical on a painted pool.

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

AIUI he’s wrong - the chemicals were way too dilute to do anything to the paint OR algae. The paint is peeling due to lack of prepping the pool before painting it

"Sent by God", as if God didn't mostly send floods, plagues, diseases, and other hardships. You can tell people who say this shit aren't the least educated in Christianity.

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

...that's the joke

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 day ago

This is a post-evidence society. MAGA is more of a religion than a political movement

[–] Loce@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

You guys are basically a Rome and your capital is burning while the crazy orange lunatic Donald Nero Trump dances around and blames others for fire he started...

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 2 points 22 hours ago

Nonsense, our empire is fine! Do accompany us to the Arena, there's a gladiator match today!

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Surprised Raichu at this point, anyway who gives a shit, where are the Epstein files?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Pretty sure that's a Pichu.

It doesn't matter what the evidence says, the Orange Overlord's lie has already been planted in the empty heads of his cult.

[–] Heikki2@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

We need to call this Trumps Gash Gate

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Why does Obama keep shitting trump’s pants? It’s been like 10 years. Isn’t he bored of it yet?

SAD!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't think I'd ever get tired of shitting on Krasnov's grave. I would like to submit this proposal to the irb for a research grant to find out.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

I got charts and graphs and shit

Sounds like everything necessary to conduct the research.

Please maga drink the algae water I’m so ready to be owned on his situation.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I heard the leader of ANTIFA and the hacker known as 4chan teamed up for this one. That's probably why they can't find any evidence.

[–] JayhawkJedi@lemmy.world 55 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As if evidence actually matters.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Right? If evidence did matter, Trump would be in jail and we would have the last Epstein datasets all released.

[–] axx@slrpnk.net 1 points 18 hours ago

Ironically, it may still be because evidence matters that they refuse to release the Epstein files.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 40 points 2 days ago (3 children)

It's patently obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that this was neglect and/or incompetence. There is no way to "cause" an algae bloom in an adequately maintained pool or fountain in the amount of time between when it was "taken care of" by Trump's wealthy friend and contributor and when it turned green with algae. Then again most of MAGA could be considered mentally handicapped IMO. So most of his mouth breathing followers will nod along and think "Yeah, must be them libtards dun sabotaged it".

[–] spaghettiwestern@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Clearly all that's needed is a couple of vats of Ivermectin.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 8 points 2 days ago

Or a reflecting pool full of it so they can lay face down in it.

It comes as no surprise that nobody in this administration understands how water works.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They should put some magnets it it

[–] Floon@lemmy.ml 2 points 22 hours ago

That's the end of the magnet!

usa props up genocide from israel and kills thousands in foreign countries both directly and indirectly. yet what is most important to usa people is who dumped peroxide in a national monument.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

We’ve not lost sight of those atrocities.

We on Lemmy are capable of thinking about multiple things at a time. Sounds weird, I know.

I repaired pools one summer. Pools tend toward algae. Pools half-saturated with chlorine develop algal blooms. Pools with heat-absorbing paint on the bottom, absent or insufficient water filtering, and location in a literal semitropical swamp are a constant (very careful, with lots of water testing) battle to prevent algal blooms. Then you go dumping peroxide in... It seems unlikely this could have gone any other way.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 11 points 2 days ago

The chemical is hydrogen peroxide, FYI

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

So are they going to issue an arrest warrant for some waddling old fat guy with a Foghorn Leghorn haircut?

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cue Nick Cage "YOU DON'T SAY?" meme.

Insider tells world the blatantly obvious is, in deed, fact.
