I was thinking the other day about that gay couple with kids who had some chud drama sloptuber come up to them and accuse them of SAing their children and how fucked that is. Two dudes more normal than I am with a family, and I'm assuming the chud is probably a fundamentalist Christian, accusing them of doing the worst most depraved shit, and projecting onto them. Diseased and sick society.

That's disgusting. I hate conservatives so much

We are going to need a huge fucking gulag for large swaths of this country to beat out of them the anti-social behavior.

God is omnipotent and good, which is why he made murderers and pedophiles and death and pain. This all checks out, stop asking questions.

Lucifer was once an agent of god but was cast out of heaven for some reason I don't remember.

He led a rebellion against God. The reason is never clear, many say hubris, some say he was jealous of humanity. But he dared to oppose God, so he and his rebellion (about a third of the angels) were cast down.

And that narrative mostly comes from various, non-Biblical iterations of Christian mythology like Milton’s paradise lost rather than directly from the bible. The one time the (Latin vulgate) bible says “lucifer” it was in referring to a human person, a king of Babylon, not to Satan. The bible does make some vague references to fallen angels.

Really! I was taught what I said from birth, I just assumed it was Biblical doctrine. Every time I think I know something about Christianity, I get very "How many other kids have I been told by the council?"

There are a lot of things I took for granted that were taught to me by my parents and others, that I only realized once I started reading through the bible as an adult aren’t in there at all, they were interpolated or extrapolated and embellished over the many intervening years, turns out Christian mythology and folklore changes and evolves over time just like any other, but its surprising to find out just how much of it isn’t in the official scripture.

There’s so much about the history of Christianity that most Christians never learn

For instance, it’s highly likely that the concept of the garden of Eden was taken from Persian Zoroastrianism during or after the Babylonian captivity which was roundabouts the time the first Hebrew Bible was written down

And (the) Satan is more like a district attorney/prosecutor to God's Judge than an outright enemy in the old testament

[–] RedDawn@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

True, plus the snake in Genesis is just a talking snake, there’s no connection between it and Satan until Revelation is written hundreds of years later.

I heard once that Lucifer name could also be related to Jesus and Lucifer means something like "light bringer"

[–] tamagotchicowboy@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

For pride month conspiracy Abrahamic holy texts go on and on and on about how Lucifer was the prettiest, loyalist, etc cherub, I'm going to go with spited boyfriend. God made his boyfriendo knowing he'd be a bad boy and depending on tradition let him down tho thonk

This makes no sense, they're way too old for priests to want to touch them
