This is sort of highlighting a fundamental friction in patriarchy, which is that men must be placed above women, but women must be considered as sexual objects to bargain with. So how does one square those two together if you're a man deeply invested in patriarchy? Either lower the position of sexuality itself (which is the "prude" route), or say gay shit like this.
It is amazing how this is such a repeatable pattern in patriarchal societies. Like even Roman and Greek texts would make such insinuations, like "This guy has to be effeminate and gay because he actually likes his wife and spends time with her". The seeming end state of patriarchy is that you have sex with women for offspring and hetero family norms, but all other forms of connection and intimacy beyond the physical act should be found among fellow men.

This is one of the silliest debates ever and that's saying a lot. Attractiveness is entirely relative to the beholder and a strong majority of people are either only attracted to one gender or at least have a strong preference. In the majority of cases where attractiveness matters, you're not competing with the opposite sex whatsoever. Even if the ugliest man was "objectively" more attractive than the hottest woman, that still wouldn't help him get with any straight women.
