PS. This thread can easily spin on another reiteration of the arguments around "separating the art from the artist". That text on AI may have a certain sympathy to some.. I haven't read it. After this post, I thought "maybe I should?". Thanks to your comment I got centered back in my perspective: "nah. the pope can say whatever he wants to. I won't be his supporter nor audience."

You know it's a strange year when both the Mullah regime of Iran and the Pope of the Catholic church put something out there and you can't immediately disagree...
They are socially conservative, but they have been fairly consistent at asking people not to kill each other for the past decades.
I think the leadership is less socially conservative compared to the past, but they represent some very conservative bases so they more or less are having to crawl progress forward or they risk a schism.
The previous pope, Pope Francis, stacked the Vatican with more progressive leaning cardinals. I believe Pope Leo will be following in Pope Francis’ footsteps in terms of appointments.

I remember hearing catholics say "those christians over there are not real christians" ...Then I proceeded to think neither of you two are christians but a lost people displaced by war, exploited by capitalist and no real memory of your past. We in the USA have a issue with secular and non secular idol worship... The pope is a CEO... Like musky boy is trying to create or already created. These catholic clergy are just grifters and fraudsters. It is sad to watch the elderly spiral into madness and these vampires love taking advantage of the weak while posing as "the good guy".... the world is a inversion of what people actually believe. It is hard to keep your head on straight with such a heavy knowledge base. I looked into the abyss and it spit in my eye.

Since the Catholic church now owns more land than anybody else on Earth (170 million acres), perhaps the Pope can grace us all by paying property taxes from this point onward? The church's unimaginable wealth should be able to cover it... everybody else manages it somehow.

The federal government manages about 640 million acres (2.6 million km2) of land in the United States...
I'd also guess that the Russian and Canadian governments are up there.
And the farthest west you go, the more the federal government owns lands. In some states like Nevada, the state only owns a small portion of their state land.
This caused a lot of problems when the state courts tried to protect Native American lands being leveled by the Trump admin because of his bullshit wall but the federal government just outright ignored them.
That's not anybody! I will be more specific, the Catholic church owns more land than any other private organization on Earth, but yes governments own more, and can seize land from the Catholics, too. It's happened before.
Russia being a dictatorship implies they have total unquestionable control of all of Russian territory, which would put them at the top of the list by a lot.
