The predictive power of the marshmallow test was challenged in a 2020 study.[8][9] Work done in 2018 and 2024 found that the marshmallow test "does not reliably predict adult functioning".

Yea the entire psych class was just us learning about famous experiments that weren't reproducible

I feel like I could pass the marshmallow test and I'm doing terribly!

Maybe the replicability crisis was latent all along.

Marshmallow is an ingredient and not good on its own. I'm vegan and they probably didnt buy the right kind so Stanford would have nothing on me. I'd crush the Prison Experiment as well, if I were a prisoner I would simply go home as soon as I was assigned the role, now its the Stanford Fugitive Experiment, I didnt commit any crimes and will not be held against my will. If I were a guard id just let people go home. I'd also have an easy Kobiyashi Maru test. Im not entering the klingon demilotarized zone to help a ship that shouldnt be there in the first place just cause its engine broke down. Dont go into a place that will set off a war and then call AAA, id ask why theyre in the neutral zone and then say theyre on their own

A freshly made, homemade marshmallow is lit.

I do be liking the stale grocery store ones too

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is a marshmallow essentially a form of meringue? American meringue, if you will.

Not quite

Though, I do be liking those stale grocery store meringues as well

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

They are great. As as kid I used to lick them until my tongue bled

[–] peanutbuttercupola@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

TIL you can make marshmallows without industrial machinery.

[–] GaveUp@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

A fancy chocolatier in SF makes them in their cafe and it's so good

I never knew a marshmallow could be that good

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you can make them using any tool that can make whipped cream, even just a whisk if you're brave

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

I found a hand-crank drill at the local Goodwill, and I was ecstatic. Mixer attachment on that and I'll foam up anything with my bare hands.

[–] Trying2KnowMyself@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

smh, should have done the prison experiment

[–] trompete@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago
