Socialism isn't a bigger minimum wage. Socialism is when the workers control the means of production and own the fruits of their labor.
Socialism, for the dumb, is like a gross word they use to trigger a reaction.
All these rumplovers were asking how the young knew and wanted “socialism” .
They saw all the good stuff Mandami was touting and said all that makes sense, that’s what we want. Hmmm sounds like it’s good common sense from the youngsters IMO.

It's kinda weird that the first time I heard of Charlie Kirk was the time he got shot.
I'm just browsing Lemmy and the headlines were "CHARLIE KIRK JUST GOT SHOT AT A RALLY!!!"
And my first reaction was "Oh no! Also, who is that?"
And then I started learning who he was. So now I know that he was a gun advocate who held rallys calling for more gun violence. From that perspective I now know that he died doing what he loved. Getting shot.
If you're American, it's impressive you managed to avoid him!
I avoid everybody. Humans are the worst.
Well, avoid hearing about him. You're on the internet, so some things are hard to avoid knowing about no matter how misanthropic you are!
I never heard of him before he got shot either. 🤷

Yep. It's called the standard deduction. If you make less than that, you pay zero income tax.
Oic, weird, in Oz we just have a 0% tax rate for everything under 20k(ish)AUD, seems like a lot of extra steps to have tax rates listed for inconsequential amounts and then make people claim a deduction for those. Does the standard deduction apply to everyone or is it just if you earn less than the fixed amount? Because the latter would then penalise people for earning slightly more than the fixed amount which seems unfair ..

Republicans do this thing where they lie about everything to make reasonable things sound bad to stupid people.
We do, but it's laughably low compared to the cost of living. It also only exempts you from personal income tax, not the other two major federal taxes that fund Medicare and Social Security. The majority of states also impose their own income tax, and the rules for how those are applied can vary wildly.
I don't feel like I have a strong answer to that, other than there is a standard deduction applied to all federal tax returns. I suppose this would effectively give you the "tax free" bracket?
