i suspect, by the nature of headline, those people are likely not rich and thus, by extension, not cracker central, and rather reachable by solidarity

Lake Tahoe is a tourism/vacation town. Between 40-50% of houses in the Lake Tahoe area are empty for most of the year because people use them for vacationing.
I guess it sucks for the people who live there year round or work at the tourism places.
