The shapes make me think of lockpicks and tension wrenches. Use red or yellow to gently rotate the assembly while green or blue work the pins. Eventually the whole thing spins free and opens up.

Thats basically how the simple models work, yeah. Then you upgrade to the all-in-one kit with the bunny ears, maybe the advanced one with the pearls, and you don’t have to swap tools anymore!
