Well that's why you use ICOE.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
Good one
I never understood why people did that, your phone is locked how are they going to see the contact?
Phones that are locked can still be used to call 911 and whoever you put in your emergency contact.

Yes, this advice seems out of date now.
Maybe your lock screen has an ICE function, otherwise just put it on your lock screen as plain text.
You can set up emergency information on your phone with contacts and even medical info and address, which doesn't need to be unlocked in order to view
You still wouldn't need ice
Do people actually call them ICE?
When I got my first phone in high school, your phone being locked was not a thing(over a decade ago). My parents made me put them a neighbor and a couple relatives in as ICE.
There's an emergency call thing for calling 911 (or whatever it is in your region?) or ICE contacts I believe.
Try having technical conversation about Internal Combustion Engines without using that acronym. Spelling it out once is fine, but what if you're comparing different engine types and you need to refer to that one frequently. Yeah, it gets awkward pretty quickly.
ICE? You mean the German electric high speed train?
One could say the ICE doesn't have an ICE, unless ICE someone from ICE enters the ICE.
There actually was a diesel ICE for some time too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICE_TD
An ICE with an ICE!
LOL, that pretty much covers it.
I hear ya
Or about Internal Compiler Errors
Do people still use ICE
I've just transitioned my contacts phone to phone over the years so mine still have that for a few people.
I don't live in the US.
Congrats
It wasn't a problem until that no talent ass clown started winning Grammys...
I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman"
So you celebrate his entire catalog, eh?
im not worried about the opinions of folks who lack nuance.
