Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Jesus christ that's what it's coming to... isn't it

As a uni student, yes. You will even be seen naive/stupid for not using chatbots. And TAs use chatbots to grade, also.

Funny storyI believe there is no system for this either. They are just manually putting the homework pdf you submit into the chatbot and going "grade this paper" one by one; and with no homework context given to the chatbots beforehand.

The reason I say this is that grades still come out a week later, and also if I see a problem is too tedious I am able to just erase the question and submit that pdf with no point loss.

I even had a classmate get 100% on their homework by submitting a blank paper once this semester.

Basically every SaaS therapy company (Better Help, Talkspace, Rula, etc) is doing a lot of shit with LLMs.

Even stuff like SimplePractice (which is a very basic EHR) is offering AI session transcriptions now.

Transcriptions are exactly the kind of thing ai is perfect for tho, there's no judgement involved and since it's timestamped you can instantly check/correct any mistakes against the original.

I wouldn't want a llm therapist either but a llm stenographer is fine imo

Unless it hallucinates a session and the provider doesn't notice...

[–] groet@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If it is even possible for it to hallucinate a session, it is implemented wrong. It should start transcribing once the session starts and everything it transcribed is saved as that session. Once the session stops the AI is turned of. It never has a chance to hallucinate a season because the AI never decides what a session is.

But we all know the AI will run permanently with full access to read, edit and delete everything...

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I was just thinking that myself, it shouldn't be possible for a speech to text to be able to hallucinate. It might put the wrong word down, but it's not like it's going to imagine entire conversations.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yes, and we have had those for over a decade. I find the newer LLM based transcription far worse than what we had before with other forms of AI.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

At the same time, my last therapist was very discretionary in what she wrote down. She didn't want any sensitive information to be able to be obtained by a hostile government. This is common practice. Full transcription removes that discretion

i always assumed those companies were AI from the get-go, basically chatboxes. might as well go to webmd for your symptoms.

Reminds me of when I did group "men" therapy and the guy running it recommended we all read Jordan Peterson.

I don't think he had any ill-intent, but I was like -- eww ... I stopped attending and hope they all stuck to that one book and only that.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

oh yea the pseudointellectual that makes bs to seem like he sounds smart. yes we know he has psych training, but he got brain damage from doing a coma withdrawl therapy from russia

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

for someone hell bent on knowing the key to self improvement, he sure did take a shortcut out of drug addiction instead of, IDK, facing his demons and being able to put his lessons into practice against withdrawal symptoms.

Stories like this one convince Me that the man community is largely toxic.

I once had a career counselor who acted exactly like this lol. It was extremely unhelpful.
