Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago (2 children)

that's the thing feds should be on posting duty now during the ceasefire that's why it's so confusing

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

iranian agents changed the wifi password on the abraham lincoln and no one knows how to reset it

Weekends are usually dead, I have a hunch most people browse hb while at work during the week

Yeah, at work… “boss makes a dollar I make a dime” right my fellow commies?

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 30 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There's a post like this once a month or so, in between election cycles there's just less activity because we're all a bunch of libs.

when there is no super PAC funding for your bear posting sadness

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Its true. I post less since AIPAC stopped sending me fruitbaskets.

[–] Valarie@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I have had some issues getting them to send the check to the right place, what is the service email

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago

Wait a moment. It was something with L ? Laley ? Langsey ? No. Its on the tip of my tongue

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 27 points 5 days ago

USAID funding dried up

[–] moh@hexbear.net 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

i have noticed the activity being a bit slower as of late. but more importantly, you and your family keeping well?

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

yeah no one died so we've been well i suppose. not being an israeli has helped us not shitting our pants any time a firecracker went off. honestly we were too much chill. it's scary how quick you can get used to explosion sounds. the slightly worse thing was the fighter and drone noises. anticipating something bad is gonna happen is worse than knowing something bad thing is happening.

[–] moh@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

yeah shit i can only imagine how scary that gets. really glad to hear you're all as well as can be through all this comrade. always wishing for your continued safety!

After the whole debacle where the website url was almost lost and had to revert to chapo.chat there was a huge loss of membership.

Aside from that, seems about as active as it has been since then imo. Maybe a little dip recently but it could be due to people just being busier

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

yeah looking at the numbers it doesn't look out of place but something just feels off i don't know what.

[–] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 17 points 5 days ago

Most of the users were banned for jokes that hit too hard.

[–] Poutine@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago

I've definitely noticed a few prolific posters disappear recently.

[–] JDvecna@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah that pace has slowed. It's a reminder that you aren't supposed to spend all your time here

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago

but i'm sick of having had to touch grass for the last two months cri

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

For a bit, at the the news mega was busy enough to switch from weekly to new post everytime it reached 3k comments. Feel like since the ceasefire it slowed down a lot.

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

war posting burnout then? people getting sick of politics?

[–] Sulvy@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

Definitely warposting burnout. For how great the news mega and its analysis can be, the top level comments that are about hot topics or what's in the current news cycle always get more attention

[–] Binette@lemmy.ml 8 points 5 days ago

School exam period :(

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago

Iran missile strikes hit Mossad HQ and the posting bot activity took a hit

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

This place can feel deserted if you come back during a weekend. Traffic is always significantly down then, unless there's some major event happening with lots of new updates. Site activity picks back up on Monday.

[–] RandallThymes@hexbear.net 4 points 5 days ago

Welcome back, glad to hear you are safe. I’ve been through a few accounts since we last spoke, hope we can play games again some time in the future.

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago

It'll pick back up but it has felt that way for me. Browsing [local][comments][new] used to be I could hit refresh after a couple mins and a whole new page of comments would be there. Not so much right now.

[–] test_@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

The outbreak of war probably pulled in users who had been touching grass (that's me, at least), and now that the war has stabilized there are fewer updates, so some of them are going back to grass touching.

i'm sorry i'll try harder

[–] BironyPoisoned@hexbear.net 3 points 5 days ago

Hexbear has been on decline since it first started and only briefly staved it off during the first few weeks of federation.
