Looking at his profile, I'm pretty sure he's engagement farming. He's got an online casino referral link in his bio.

This is a way to make money under capitalism doomjak

It worked, someone reposted it.

Could easily automate and scale this too. The hardest part would be account creation

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

No. Unlimited owls.

[–] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah the gulf coast would be great for land reclamation if it weren't for all the megahurricanes we're gonna get lol

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Counterpoint...if we fill the whole ocean with land, there won't be any hurricanes.

We'd need to literally move mountains...and definitely couldn't get the whole ocean...but just getting the Atlantic tropics would probably be enough.

As an added bonus, it'll stop raining in England.

We have that sweetie, it's called the floating garbage pile the size of new jersey in the pacific.

The Dutch be out here colonizing Atlantis.

[–] ductTapedWindow@lemmy.zip 18 points 6 days ago

Hear me out, if we build a bulldozer the size of Oklahoma we could theoretically push the Appalachian mountains into the ocean. Of course it would destroy anything in it's path so we'll need to build it out of helicopter parts.

average honk ie when there's no more land available to steal

[–] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago

China actually has done that off its coast. Reclaimed land. Not to this scale but much of China is rugged terrain so flat land is at a premium and they can actually get things done because Xi executed all the corrupt officials. Meanwhile California can't even build a single mile of highspeed rail track. They stole ALL the money. No prosecutions because they have class consciousness and are all in on it.

Is this real or edited slop? Was the poster an eight year old who just doesn't know better? Or is it rage bait? I can't even tell any more.

Hear me out: What if we did the opposite of melting the polar ice caps?

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 6 days ago (2 children)

okay but if the dutch can do it before the invention of plumbing why can't everyone else

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 4 points 6 days ago

Has anyone seen any proof the Dutch actually reclaimed land from the sea? Kinda sounds like something they made up on the spot when people started asking too many qustions about how they aquired new land.

[–] leninmaycry@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

dutch been playing minecraft skyblock

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 9 points 6 days ago

I like the ambition and curiosity, even if it's misguided

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 8 points 6 days ago

We're gonna relocate Iran's land to America and that's how we'll give them their freedoms.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 8 points 6 days ago

China has done a lot of land reclamation projects, though not on this scale obviously.

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 6 days ago

Atlantropa but somehow even dumber

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

reminds me of the nazi plan to fill in Gibraltar

[–] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

There used to be a natural dam there and the entire Mediterranean evaporated, leaving a salt flat hundreds of degrees hot. Then one day, the dam burst and it refilled from the Atlantic.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

What if you take land from somewhere that doesn't need it like the mountains and just pushed it into the sea, didn't think of that did you??

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Just go up and get a big chunk of the moon and drop it in there. The gravity's lower up there so it would take like what, a couple of big guys to just chuck it the rest of the way?

[–] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's how we lost the dinosaurs

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Just enlist the help of the remaining dinosaurs to hold a really big net to ease it down into place. They survived one impact, so they've got real-world practical experience in that kind of thing.

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 6 points 6 days ago

They have to be joking, surely.
