Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

President Donald Trump's overhaul of US refugee policies has created a major shift in the number and nationalities of people admitted to the country, US government data shows.

Since October 2025, 4,499 refugees were resettled in the US, according to the Refugee Processing Center. All, except three from Afghanistan, were South African.

In the last full fiscal year of the Biden administration, which started in October 2023, 125,000 people were accepted from 85 countries.

Last year, Trump halted all refugee admissions, including for applicants from warzones, but allowed Afrikaners, a white minority group he said was persecuted, to seek resettlement. South Africa objected to his characterisation.

And white

Don't forget that they were white

[–] DahGangalang@infosec.pub 3 points 2 days ago

Is that to include the Afghani?

[–] disorderly@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (6 children)

Well yeah, because of the active genocide against white Afrikaners.

Conversely, there's nothing of interest going on in Afghanistan and the US has no obligations to any sympathizers or collaborators there, so I'm not sure why we're letting 3 people flood our country.

Edit: this is sarcasm. Can't believe I need to say it.

Edit: this is sarcasm. Can't believe I need to say it.

Even here there are some who would say it without any sarcasm, so yes, it needs to be said. Or better indicated. Quotes around "active genocide" with the same article link would probably make it more obvious.

I expected it to be sarcasm and still re-read to make sure.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People can't tell it's sarcasm because every day we encounter people who would say exactly these stupid things in earnest.

The fact that most of the link is coming from things the president of the United States has said and done? And he still maintains an approval rating around 33%? Yeah, about a third of the US voting population would 100% say things like this without sarcasm, because they’re just parroting Dear Leader.

Strange to link the words “active genocide” to an article that reads,

Claims of white genocide in South Africa have been entirely discredited

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't believe there are still people that thinks sarcasm can be easily read through text without an indicator.

"nothing interesting going on in Afghanistan"

"no obligation to any sympathizers or collaborators there"

"letting 3 people flood our country"

Touch some grass if you're so used to strawmen that this isn't immediately obvious as sarcasm.

Linking a Wikipedia page as a source that basically says Trump believes this and started a program is hilarious.

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So you are also saying we needed to stop the genocide in Gaza as welll then?

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub -4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You really aren't following news, are you?

EDIT: For the other oblivious downvoters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_peace_plan

There are still some minor incidents (scroll down to violations), but generally the war is over.

I’m willing to bet these South African apartheid Nazis will be hired by ICE. I’m willing to bet that that was the plan the entire time.

[–] przemyslawowo@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 days ago

They are shoring up their white supremacy ranks lol

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Is it wrong for me to say I don't want these people here?

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Not at all. You're rejecting the recruitment of Nazi thugs. Be proud of that.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I literally came here to comment something along the lines "go back to your fucking country"

[–] JeSuisUnHombre@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago

Every accusation is an admission.

Removing all the brown people, bringing in all the white people. They want a Great Replacement.

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

125,000 asylum seekers admitted down to 4,500. That's people admitted, i.e. so-called real refugees who have been found to need and deserve our help. Down to only helping white Afrikaners. Outrageous. Letting innocent immigrants to rot. Wipes his large ass with "bring me your huddled masses"
