Mike Brock might have set himself ablaze but he's spot on. Folks who voted for Trump are gullible and fundamentally untrustworthy. They forever carry a virus embedded in their brains, a parasite.

No. Thanks.

Please remove the slur from the title, or the post will be removed.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 22 minutes ago

Make em remove the useless "lmao" comment too

[–] Rappe@sopuli.xyz 12 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

We're just dropping slurs for no reason now, huh?

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I’m not sure it was on Reddit or somewhere else but I’ve seen it used as an indicator that you’re not a bot or ai.

[–] poop@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Surely there's a better way to do that. The technology exists

[–] meekah@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Tbh I'm a bit confused what exactly you're referring to

[–] dumnonii@piefed.social 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, it's in the title of the post, not the post itself. Took me a while to scroll all the way up.

[–] meekah@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 hours ago

Ahh right, yeah that's not cool

[–] holymachinery91@lemmy.world 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Fr. I never trust a "leftist" who throws slurs around like this.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

We have no idea if that person is a leftist or not. I assume they're a troll but you never really know.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 hours ago

You don't have to trust them. But if you do policy that's in their actual material interest, they'll vote for you.

So voters? Sure. Politicians? Hard pass.

Like if Margorie Taylor Greene up and says she's a leftist now, then no. I'd call the easiest bullshit on that one.

But some chud who is convinced to vote for a progressive or even socialist candidate because they want healthcare? Deal.

[–] coalie@piefed.zip 100 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

So glad ddiiggss' reply was there. That was crucial to this conversation.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 25 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

How else could we possibly know that it was funny?

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 14 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The way we always do nowadays!

[–] 5wim@infosec.pub 7 points 6 hours ago

Saddam's body

[–] coalie@piefed.zip 5 points 13 hours ago

IKR, I would have had no idea otherwise. I am still trying to figure out how to laugh at it.

The way this is worded sounds like Mike is saying he would accept MAGA "defectors" and wants to call out those who disagree. 🤨

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

really? It feels the exact opposite.

That he would fight anyone saying they should accept former MAGAts.

Interesting how it can be taken either way. Wonder what the true meaning was.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 8 hours ago

If there's maybe earlier context, like a previous argument where he's clearly stating his position, it would help.

They can get in the tent and vote D in the general all day...

The problem was neoliberals tried to court hypothetically cross over voters at the expense of the Dem voting base. That's fucking stupid and a problem. One that the voting members of the DNC rectified a year ago.

But if someone voted trump in the last three general elections and want to vote D in the next, why would anyone talk them out of it?

Let em fucking do it. Just don't listen to them when they try to guide the party.

I have no idea who either of these people are, but both of them make me immediately want to never see their names attached to anything ever again.

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Yeah I found this Brock’s Substack😬and the first thing I read is him wanting to nuke China if they invade Taiwan.

Stop giving this guy visibility on Lemmy.

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 1 points 7 minutes ago

Good fucking god. The first gif, converted to mp4, takes 660 KB instead of 8.4 MB.

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago) (5 children)

Does anyone have more information about the odd sandwich with cilantro coating the outside of the sandwich but not actually in the sandwich? It almost looks like a dessert sandwich except for the cilantro part...

[–] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 1 points 23 minutes ago

The file name for the image is james-beard-onion-sandwich.gif.

[–] phailhaus@piefed.social 5 points 11 hours ago

Looks like the filling is nothing but thick-cut slabs of onion.

Those pictures need to be links to either a recipe or an order page.

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

That's glorious!

Bookmarked.

he seems like the kinda guy who would unironically drop a "reddit… assemble!"

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 5 points 12 hours ago

Wtf??? Cringe! Downvote army, assemble!

[–] Okokimup@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I'm confused. Is the goal ideological purity or helpful results?

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

The goal is for people to recognize what has happened in recent history and stop repeating it.

Corporate Democrats and big corporations will continue to say that the left should reach out to the center and steal those votes. They'll say that because they hate leftist policies and not because they think the strategy would actually work. But lots of people listen to them.

I believe that if Bernie had been the candidate in 2016, he would have won. I believe that there are enough American voters who actually want leftist policies out there and that a leftist candidate can win the White House. But I know that it's hard to get people to try. And that explains the predictable losses in 2016 and 2024.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 1 points 6 hours ago

I'm not sure what the context of their discussion is but I interpreted it as being sympathetic to people who realize they were duped by conservatives. But there's a big difference between whether we should accept former maga voters and whether we should compromise with fascist politicians.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 20 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

Helpful results? In MY leftist politics? Nah, the goal here appears to be to win Internet points.

That lady who got all over social media who voted for Trump three times and admitted that Trump was an idiot and she was an idiot for voting for him?

That’s sufficient.

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

none of those people come out of that interaction looking good tbh

[–] cnk@sharkey.world 4 points 13 hours ago

Yeah it feels to me that both are searching for a "aha gotcha" kind of online win so they can then turn to their respective followers and say "see? See how they are?". Neither is productive and both are examples of a kind of micro-clout chasing behavior that reduces the very real discussions about very real politics to being "gotcha's" etc.

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

...I hope Mike Brock is your hero for setting himself for such an epic self-own.
