Trump said at a Texas gathering on Feb. 27 that he was considering nominating Republican Sen. Ted Cruz for a future seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, although Cruz last month said he was not interested.

Trump, introducing Cruz at a rally in Corpus Christi, called the Texas Republican "an amazing guy," joking that he would easily win confirmation from Democrats and Republicans in Congress alike because they wanted to get him out of the Senate.

"He's the only guy I know, he'll get 100% of the Democrat vote, 100% of the Republican vote. They want to get him out of there. He is such a pain in the a--, but he's so good and so talented."

Here's the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz, I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz."

Fuck Gillibrand for demanding him to go, based on a Republican hit job!
She was the main reason Al Franken never got a fair chance.

Republicans exploit Dems morals for their own gain. Doesn't work the other way because Republicans have no morals. ^[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_impeachment_of_Donald_Trump#Senate_trial]

Also Democrats were trying to do the right thing. Which. Yeah.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Not really, it was a mix of knee jerk reactions and political opportunity and a lot of cowardice, because they were afraid to back up Al Franken.

The Case of Al Franken

Best article I've seen about how Schmuck Schumer and Kristin Gillibrand stabbed Al Franken in the back, to clear the decks for her presidential campaign, which flamed out in about 2 weeks. She destroyed a great man's career for nothing.

I will strongly support any candidate who primaries Schmuck and Gillibrand.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

So many came out to back up and defend Gillibrand even after it turned out what she started was a HUGE mistake, and she never pulled back or apologized AFAIK!
Complete scumbag politician, sacrificing one of her own in an attempt to get ahead, and she is fucking still in congress, it's disgusting. 🤮

Which makes him “perfect” for the job, because he will take it out on the people

When he's not in Cancun

[–] totesmygoat@piefed.ca 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well. The only upside is the court would close every time it snows in DC... or rains for that matter. He'll run to Mexico.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Motherfucker isn't even an attorney is he?

[–] RainbowHedgehog@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I was gonna say Ted Cruz has no legal experience. But then I looked it up and found out he actually does. Still stupid though.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, but what illegal experience does he have? Without that, I fail to see how Trump would consider him qualified!

[–] TwodogsFighting 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Other than being the zodiac killer?

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Technically law enforcement experience, participated in a multi-decade manhunt

[–] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know what I expected from this reality.

I guess I'm going to go put on a clown costume or something

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ah yes, because Cruz’s wife is another Goldman Sachs executive officer with Epstein ties.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And she's quite ugly

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

Trump will pack the court and the Democrats will let him do it because the leadership doesn’t actually oppose anything he’s doing.

Demented rapist strikes again

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Turns out when Trump was talking about shithole countries, he was really projecting about trying to turn the US into one.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

To keep cruz from running for president.

[–] firebyte@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)
[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He can and already has run for president...

Natural born means born to us citizens, not where you're born.

[–] firebyte@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Turns out, it's a bit more complicated than I first understood...

Ted Cruz's mother, Elanor Elisabeth, was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Ted's father, Rafael Cruz, was born in Cuba.

So technically Ted Cruz could be considered a 'natural-born' U.S. citizen, unless the law is changed by Congress to define what 'natural-born' means.

Trump's Birther movement should have more to say about Ted Cruz, than it did over Barrack Obama... But we all know how that will play out.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

So I definitely did not know that. 👍

[–] megopie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 month ago

Lmao, ok, so you want to put both Texas senate seats up for grabs at the same time? Ok go for it.

[–] ugandan_airways@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

“Leave Heidi the hell alone” Cruz is a spineless coward

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Caligula appointed a horse as consul. Trump considers appointing a horse's ass to the Supreme Court.

[–] ChadGPT2@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Ted Cruz is a terrible human being and should not be in any position of authority.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 month ago

Just as soon as he pays off the maga crowd with all of that tariff money.
