Democrats: Got any money?

No, but seriously. They are professional fumblers. They fucked up the last election hilariously bad by running Biden for so long.

Yes, my fellow citizens are idiots, but they should’ve known better!

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Need to stop thinking about them as leaders and just people who arent good at anything but showing up for meetings.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 7 points 1 month ago

Spot on with this perspective.

They’re management on a nice suit insisting everyone show up for content that’s so exciting it’s better left to an email.

Now, I can’t unsee it.

Except AOC and Bernie, of course, they have their shit together.

[–] ChristerMLB@piefed.social 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

imagine if people who were good at other things started showing up to those meetings

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Nah that’s too much work. Shitting on the Dems on the intertubes is way easier.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (4 children)

So which Congress members have you voted for ?

They really should have - Biden’s struggles with dementia were common knowledge amongst his staff by 2022. There is no excuse for not holding a primary election in good faith, other than they don’t believe in democracy any more than Repugs do.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Doesn’t matter who they run at this point. They just keep running candidates that are safe neo-libs that will legalize pot and let you paint rainbow crosswalks while still bending a knee to their corporate overlords.

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (15 children)

for real. they should be LITERALLY AND PHYSICALLY SCREAMING in the halls. When told “how unprofessional” they should respond with “my opponents are fascists. fuck professionalism.”

BUT since they are not burning shit down, one can only assume they are in on the fascism too.

They could abuse quorum rules or incessantly call for a point of order if they cared. Anything to slow down this fascist machine.

When Biden/Obama were in office they had the power to keep Congress in session indefinitely if they wanted.

But they don't care.

[–] dwalin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Psa: Maga want you to stay at home and not vote. There are organized campains just to demoralize you and keep you at home in the next elections.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

You know what demoralizes me?

That my 80 year-old parents are stuck in poverty no matter who we elect. They were poor under Obama. Poorer under Trump I, and then poorer still under Biden. They're 80 years old and driving for DoorDash, and no Democrat is going to lift a finger to stop it.

Democrats have been working for the past year to get IEEPA tariffs struck down, and it worked. Take that win.

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And then two hours later Trump just said "nuh uh" and raised tariffs globally another 10%.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not another 10%, a new round of tariffs at 10%. Notice how it's only that amount and not 150% because these ones are capped at 15%, plus these can only be in place for 150 days under the law they used.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

There you go again. Interrupting a cherished narrative with nuanced facts. Keep it going!

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Political focus groups suggest that any opinion or stance on any issue may open a politician to criticism, so obviously doing nothing will yield optimal polling results! /s

The consultant wing needs to fucking die.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Well that’s true.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 8 points 1 month ago

This would be more apt if it was a bloated corpse with flies circling.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

When they speak: "Oh, a sternly worded letter, that'll fix it"

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe watch cspan instead of Fox? Mainstream media is Conservative or full Maga.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Democrats aren't doing much there, either. You're not wrong that the media ignores or actively attacks anything resembling leadership, because a progressive political agenda is a threat to their power structure. But there is still a dearth of leaders among the elected.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 month ago

What do you mean, they don't speak? They speak all the time!

Are you listening?

[–] chocrates@piefed.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They're gonna do nothing, run Newsom, and blame the left if it's even a close race

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Newsom will run but these early contenders use to get creamed in the primaries just because they take up too much spot light in the lead up and people are sick of them come voting.

I could be wrong, newsom definitely seems like the play for the establishment guys. There's a bunch of lower rank guys in red districts that are making plays too, though.

Ill vote for a hamsandwich if it means trump is gone but I dont expect any major change. Major change will only come if the people do something, not polioticians.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He wants to be the left and center guy. I think he’ll end up being neither.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Honestly, really need to temper your expectations in general. Say we put jesus christ himself in charge of the country. Do you think he would be able to get anything substantial done short of calling on his god powers?

We need consistent control. We need to invalidate every gop win. This is long term project. No 4 year admin can take it all on.

From an accelerationist pov we need to inflict pain on the country by driving it off the rails so they can proceed with an agenda.

Its kinda hopeless from that perspective. You'll never see the change enacted in your life time so its almost like it doesn't exist. Except, if we were kind people, we would want to be kind to everyone. Even the people we never meet.

Another pov, much less popular, we throw down with our neighbors and build our communities in a way that serves everyone. We give money power. We give people power. We give the government power. We could just weild that power ourselves.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah I hear what you’re saying. I wonder though if we should even stop thinking about getting an admin in to fix everything in 4 years and get an admin in who will play the actual game that’s afoot right now: the battle for the soul of America. The far right pitch to Americans is clear, it resonates with many, and it has an army of mouthpieces repeating it daily. I don’t even know what the left’s pitch is. I know what I think it should be, but who out there is even articulating any vision? I think the right is up against general reality most of the time. But that’s not enough/

Voters: We want a lefty MTG, screaming at the SOTU and saying outrageous shit all the time!

[eventually gets lefty MTG screaming at the SOTU and saying outrageous shit all the time]

Voters: Not like that!

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh look, more people saying look at the Democrats and not every single Republican.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

... if I said what I wanted about the republicans you certainly wouldn't have to worry about me posting anymore.

Im certainly not trying to appeal to their non existent moral character.

Thats honestly not entirely true though. I did haplessly call on maga to look at trump saying america is "already great."

[–] M137@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Whoever made this image needs to be slapped, why put a dark blue image on a dark grey background?

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 1 points 1 month ago

Because those are the real colors?

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

they are doing exactly what they intended to do. what you want from them is another matter they are unconcerned with

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Bitching about Democrats is so cringe. You do something.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Ok, im doing something, can I bitch about democrats now?
