I used to work in a polling call center and this was a big problem. Not only did almost nobody pick up, but everyone who picked up was very on guard, and had to first be convinced that no, I'm not trying to sell anything, and no, I don't want any of your personally identifiable information, and no, I'm not trying to trick you into sending someone money...
I'm certain it badly skewed the polling results. Only people who rate unusually high on openness and agreeableness actually complete polls.
The texts with links to polls are fun, too. Most people know not to click random links from numbers they don't recognize.
The polls are coming in and they are STAGGERING folks! Many people are saying I have the highest numbers in the history of our Country. A beautiful 100% APPROVAL RATING! Many are saying it. The Fake News Media and the LYING Democrats are in total shock, they don't want to report the truth! (WHICH THEY KNOW!) We are doing things that have never been done before. The Silent Majority is stronger than ever. WE WILL KEEP WINNING!

My initial thought is, this is a subtle indicator of the capital class buying into the regime's plans to transition from "liberal democracy" to just straight up naked oligarchy
Edit: My second thought is, why not then just lie about the numbers? What does it fucking matter if they're dropping the veneer of democracy anyways?
Well, normalization is a big part of how these things sometimes happen, and the crisis isn't really acute enough for them to be able to swing an extremely drastic shift without getting country-wide riots and some more Luigis.
The headline made me laugh out loud.
