Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Anyone foreign would be smart to stay away from the World Cup. Even U.S. citizens are not safe from ICE just misinterpreting someone's actions and then executing you on the spot.

misinterpreting someone's actions

Yeaaah... Even this is giving them too much of the doubt. I don't think thats what's happening. I think they're angry and are purposely killing people to send a message about fighting back or questioning their authority. I truly believe they're just straight up purposely murdering people because they're angry and we're not in their 'us group' in their 'us against them' mentality.

Washington State sherrif Keith Swank even admitted as much with regard to wearing masks when they've been told its illegal. They're doing it because they don't recognize anyone authority to tell them 'no', on anything. It's a "fuck you I do what I want because i am the law" attitude. And if you question that well, now the nation has seen what happens when you do. They shoot you.

Truly psychotic people.

Specifically, they're angry at people being able to legally resist. Not to mention we're dealing with psychopaths who will record snuff footage of people they execute.

Just hope the team you're rooting for is playing in Mexico or Canada. Fuck the US.

I hope the seats are all empty

If you actually go to the FIFA World cup you're a moron and you might deserve what you might get. Stop supporting these fuckers. It isn't hard.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Cool, maybe they'll cancel the US games and only do Canada and Mexico

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 2 points 2 months ago

They really should, tbh.

Please do not come here. Watch from the peace and safety of your own home.

[–] humanamerican@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Don't watch. FIFA doesn't deserve the ad revenue

Pirating still aids them.

It still legitimises and normalises FIFA. By watching it you're still engaging in their spectacle, still likely to talk about it with others, still accepting that it's a legitimate tournament not ripe with corruption.

Even VAR decisions are controversial and corrupt at times, the whole reason VAR was claimed to have been implemented to prevent.

FIFA is rotten to the core, and needs properly boycotted. If you really care about football watch local leagues, not this spectacle of wealth, corruption, and power.

I don't like sports to begin with so boycotting will be extremely easy for me

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

They are 100% going to detain players arent they?

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Will bad bunny be there too? For shits and giggles?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And foreign guests won't, probably.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

seriously. you have to be nuts to come to the us if you don't absoultely have to right now.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Can't wait for tourists to be kidnapped and held in a concentration camp where they will state "But I didn't think it would happen to me!".

I'm not saying that they should be kidnapped, I even know someone who's travelling to the US for this, and I literally hope he gets taken, so he understands why I'm so fucking furious and telling him not to go.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

How many kidnappings need to happen for everyone to get the fucking message?

Boycott everything that isn't essential

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

For what purpose?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

So expect less international visitors. Even my coworker - an American - told me he won't visit home at least this year.
