We didn't deserve the 90's 🙁
Dear lord I miss everything about the 90’s.
I prefer the 90s to the current horrors, but I don't exactly miss
- the Yugoslav wars
- the Rwandan genocide
- the assassination of Yitzak Rabin bringing an end to the Oslo peace process
- the rise of the taliban
- the Chechen wars
- the Congo wars
- the ideology of "the end of history"
- the wave of rightwing violence in Germany (e.g. in Rostock, where thousands of people were celebrating as Nazis attacked and set aflame a house with more than a hundred people in it, most of them migrant workers)
News only came on for half an hour at night and it was mostly local, so I didn't know or care about any of that
Every period of time, every decade has had its share of atrocities worldwide.
I did not mean to deny or diminish that fact.
