Surroundings

An exposed circuit breaker fastened on to a wooden panel, connected with flimsy copper wires. The panel is next to a sodastream carbonator, a bag of rubber bands, a upside down vase, some wall sockets, and two more breakers.

NOTE: the Chinese text is 「請勿觸摸」(don't touch)

Thats not even that bad. All the wires are insulated so no danger of shorts. If you put some kind of cover infront of the whole thing, it would probably be fine.

Yeah the electrons are happy. It's grounded, by which I mean it's not allowed to go out with its friends

[–] Machinist@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I've totally seen worse. Farmer jackleg electricianing can be real spooky.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Top right... Wire that comes from the top of the left breaker probably used to go to the right breaker is hanging in mid air. That's the one most likely to change someone's life.

Looks like it has electrical tape on it but not sure

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Ahh, yeah, maybe. Looked like exposed copper to me but it might be covered.

All good then!

Context: I'm kinda tall at 1.81m. At least taller than they are.

I remember going to one of my neighbors... I was slightly sleepy and tired.

They asked me to get something from their pantry and I entered it without care...

When I walked back out, I realized that while going in, my hair brushed against an exposed, uninsulated, fucking 220v wire going to their light bulb which was hanging just above the door, kept in place by a single screw, with the cable and bulb just hanged off of it...

Suddenly I was wide awake

[–] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why was there 220 powering a lightbulb?

[–] dogdeanafternoon@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago

Probably cause that’s the standard mains voltage for the majority of the world.

[–] 87Six@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yea as the other person said, that's just the AC voltage here (Romania, I think it may be the same across EU)

[–] UxyIVrljPeRl@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Well i wouldnt want to touch this, even without the text

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Imma touch…

Is there a Pareidolia community on Lemmy? That's one of the fun ones I miss from... The Other Place

[–] protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

3 breakers? thats quality eletric installation! I am stuck with one for the whole house

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At least you have a main cutoff. I have all the breakers and no way to kill power to the panel.

[–] filcuk@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Never heard of wire cutters? 🙄

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Is that an upside down vase on a piece of rebar?

[–] YICHM@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago
[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

I see someone else has gingerly approached it

[–] fubarx@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

There's fizzy water on-hand to douse an electric fire.

What's the problem?

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

God... It's not that hard to at least put a few pieces of wood over this

[–] titter@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

This is just a picture of my sinuses and my intestines.

It almost looks like it might be a transfer switch setup for something like a generator vs main power. As long as everyone knows the correct order and specific switches to flip. It’ll work….
