"imagine." There you go, that's anticommunist reality-building in a nutshell.

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

well i mean he's not wrong everyone mentioned in the files would probably be executed and that's pretty gnarly

[–] context@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

adj. gnarly (comparative gnarlier, superlative gnarliest)

  1. Having or characterized by gnarls; gnarled.
  1. (slang, dated) Excellent; attractive.

I-was-saying pretty gnarly

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

It's dated? Someone tell CaptainSparklez.

[–] christian@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Realizing I don't actually know what gnarls are.

[–] context@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

it's a variant spelling of knurl going back to shakespeare. a knurl or gnarl is a knot in wood, a cross-grained misshapen knob that forms as a tree grows around the base of a dead branch or dormant bud.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No actually because China gives a shit about victims and straight up kills the abusers instead of making them president.

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

China gives a shit about victims and straight up kills the abusers

That does not at all indicate they care about the victims.

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Maybe I misread, but it reads like you are connecting those two things, when really they aren't connected. I don't know what else to say.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't get it, are you saying China doesn't care then by punishing abusers? Are you opposed to that?

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

No. I mean, I'm explicitly saying they aren't connected. And I don't cheer it on. The extent of the punishment is unrelated to the recompense of the victim.

“At least our satanic billionaire sex pests are WHITE satanic billionaire sex pests!”

Absolute copium.

What if, pedo but Chinese?

Omg scared

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Stopping here to pedantically complain about people confusing cue (to indicate to another person to proceed with an action) with queue (lining up things in a sequence e.g. a song)

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I've done this type of mistake twice in two days back to back hahaha

First I use duel when I should have used dual, now I'm getting my queues mixed up

I blame English

[–] Transform2942@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Arguably in in our glorious modern age of playlist-clicking DJs "queue up X" is the more common usage

Speak a lil Chinese for 'em, Jeff

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 18 points 2 days ago

I cant tell if this is a liberal or a conservative. I should keep this picture to show liberals next time they don’t understand that they aren’t leftists.

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yeah, gnarly for the clans of pedophiles because there would be actual prosecutions if this occurred in China.

[–] cornishon@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 days ago

What, are we a bunch of ASIANS?

[–] Sivecano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Are we defending the death penalty now?

[–] axont@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's good when China executes billionaires and sexual predators. They should keep doing it.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 days ago

billionaires and sexual predators

They're the same picture

[–] AF_R@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

When China does it, yes.

This isn’t some kind of bit or joke or sarcastic remark. There is no deeper meaning to be had.

Genuinely, when China, as a Communist Party, kills criminals, it is a good thing. I support it. I don’t see a problem.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

We are drawing a marked comparison between the China that exists on Earth and the China that exists inside the liberal mind palace.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

I'll go against the grain and say that there's not really a good reason for China to still use the death penalty. The arguments for rehabilitation and against punitive justice hold true in China, too. But when you compare it to what you see in the majority of criminal justice systems in the Western world, which is rampant brutality and exploitation of the workers and a free-for-all for the rich, China understandably looks much more appealing. I think eventually China should reform their punitive justice in favor of rehabilitation, but it's not my place as a westerner to set the schedule for that or make demands.

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, we're pointing out yet another way the reality of China (executes child predators) conflicts with liberal fantasies about China (assumes that CSA is very common and goes unpunished even more often than in the USA)

[–] Sivecano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Maybe I'm wrong here but I don't think that's usually part of the mainstream narrative about china, no?

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

No, but in this image you can see someone proposing that it is the case.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's not a part of the usual narratives, no, but it is an excellent example of the way western chauvinism serves to deflect people in our society from coming to terms with it's bone-deep corruption: we learn something truly horrifying about our country/bourgeoisie, and the response that's trained into us from a lifetime of indoctrination about being the best and free-est is to go "Oh my god, if it's this bad here in the Good Guy Place then imagine what those other people must get up to in secret!"

Taking this as an example, we can look at the western accusations that do make up the mainstream narratives about China and see the same dynamic at play. As the saying goes, every accusation a confession.

[–] DornerStan@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 days ago

You're against the death penalty because it's inhumane, has a nonzero chance of killing an innocent, and forces a worker to commit murder for the state

I'm against the death penalty because I believe billionaire pedophiles deserve much worse and a quick death is too merciful

We are not the same
