Never heard of this Obama guy - I wonder if he knows any people with more political capital than the combined general populace - that’d probably be a big efficiency booster

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 17 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I'm laughing at myself. Obama is out of power and he's always been a turd so that's nothing new or surprising. Yet I still ~~had~~ have an urge to fedpost. I guess I hate him so much because he's the walking, talking, lecturing embodiment of the democrats and of neoliberalism.

I’m glad my first voting experience could have such milquetoast results lol. Fool me once and so on and so forth back-to-me

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 13 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (2 children)

In the first election I voted in these results were so ugly and so crushing all I could do was laugh.

[–] SwagliacciTheBadClown@hexbear.net 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Mondale!!!! 😂

Only laughing because he’s a meme imo. God I despise Reagan so much.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 7 points 16 hours ago

At the time - I took it in stride. You win some - you lose some. Reagan was dogshit but it's hilarious how awful American presidents have been my entire life. Yet democrats are still always sharing infographics about how great the economy was under Clinton, Obama, and Biden as they cheerlead for Team Democrat. There's zero consideration that people aren't the economy. And when people are desperate and feel hopeless - they'll believe the biggest liars in the world. Dems have to maintain this fiction that somehow Trump appeared out nowhere and became a political juggernaut.

What else can you expect from an election held in 84?

I'm assuming if any jokes were made at the time in reference to the book named for that year, they were jokes about how well we avoided Orwell's dystopia since the great freedom-loving anticommunist epitome Ronnie Reagan was presiding over freedom-land?

Although mobilizing people around an activist message and failing to follow through (or being an opportunist) would probably have significant harmful repercussions in terms of said populaces cynicism and disengagement - so this Obama fella might want to be sure he means what he says! Hope he gets a chance to meet with a president or senator some day so he can get this message out

Oh SHIT! Just looked him up - HUGE mistake!

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 52 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

woah, blusky libs getting catty at Obama

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 30 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

I don't know how long it's been happening. I assume months. Bluesky libs started seriously shitting on his posts. Not like us but in their lib way.

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 19 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

they don't want to see Mr. Obama's spotify rewind?? cri

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 18 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

When Obama puts out lists - I always wonder how much is true and how much is spin where they put the "right" stuff on the list so it gets more likes and engagement.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 21 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

It's Obama

He probably actually listens to it to drive engagement and get attention and for no other reasons

This is the guy who essentially confessed he read theory in college to try and get laid in his biography

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 17 points 21 hours ago

shame the theory didn't take

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 9 points 21 hours ago

Yeah c'mon dude where are the Bandcamp screamo bands with 5 followers?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 6 points 18 hours ago

He doesn't fucking do anything lol, i'm not surprised

[–] GenXen@hexbear.net 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Probably after the ketchup take. That was the line the libs just couldn't follow beyond.

[–] Self_Sealing_Stem_Bolt@hexbear.net 34 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Obama, you're fucking responsible for whats happening rn! Ice was a nothing burger agency until obama expanded it nation wide! Obama also gave you indefinite dention, concentration camps, family separation! Obama and biden walked so trump could run. Obama likes whats happening rn as much as any dem/republican.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

"All of us" doesn't include him going to a march though.

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 7 points 15 hours ago

He is a bit to busy bulldozing public space to build his ~~imperial fortress~~ presidential library

[–] miz@hexbear.net 5 points 16 hours ago

you first Barack

cia

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 13 points 20 hours ago

Uhh, let me be clear. If you like your ICE brutality, you can keep it

[–] Speaker@hexbear.net 1 points 11 hours ago

reveals where deportation agenda is going

The revelation? Where it is currently happening every single day. Nailed it again, Ezra.

[–] regul@hexbear.net 14 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

There should be abundant ICE agents!

We need to cut the red tape that is restricting the number of ICE agents. If we have way more, then the most effective ones will be sought after by consumers and the worse ones will leave the field!

[–] fort_burp@feddit.nl 9 points 21 hours ago

Finally, someone with some common sense!

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

is that genuinely what abundance is? that's just milton friedman. they keep coming up with new guys who are just milton friedman. even milton friedman was just a new hayek

[–] regul@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago

Basically, yeah.

[–] fort_burp@feddit.nl 9 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Oh god, did anyone listen to it? I kind of want to know what Klein's take is but I kind of don't. Ezra Klein is like if comedy is supposed to make you furious.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 4 points 19 hours ago

Ezra Klein is like if comedy is supposed to make you furious.

I never quite thought of Klein and his ilk that way but it's it. One day his producer filled in for him and the strangest thing was - and I'm not making this up - he sounded exactly the same. I don't just mean in his phraseology. I mean his tone of voice too.

I kind of want to know what Klein's take is but I kind of don't.

NYT might have a transcript. To begin with - you could o a ctrl-f to see how many times he plugs "abundance".

[–] CommunistCuddlefish@hexbear.net 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I don't need to listen to it, I already know he'll have nothing of value to say

[–] Postimo@lemmy.zip 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Ah, but have you factored into the podcast value function how much I hate myself?

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago

Self-Harm describes about a quarter of my media diet.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 4 points 19 hours ago

Walk around and blow out your rage with a wistle. Then vote to not revoke the laws and authority that allows such a thing as ICE.
