“Lieutenant, the leviathan is waking up off the coast of Virginia! What are your orders?” “Quick soldier, make it snow in Ohio.” “Brilliant, sir!”

the boomers who survived exposure to 24/7 news were then exposed to the internet and then to generative LLM slop. only a tiny fraction of those brains have survived intact

(yes generations are a distraction from class, but they have outsized assets and media caters to them)

EDIT: (plus how OLD most American officeholders are)

Lathe: we will see 100% personalized news in our near future if not what we’re seeing already.

Ya I think we're just about 85% now

Who would win the battle of being believed:

Decades of verifiable scientific research explaining why these extreme weather events are happening

or

One (image that kinda looks like a) giant snakey boi

If Leviathan is waking up, I'm not going to work

[–] miz@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

b-b-but my small business! oh by the way I can't pay you this week but I swear it will be in next week's paycheck.

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago

Look, I gotta pay myself first before I can pay you, I've got the wolves at my door, it's like the pre-flight video says in an emergency you have to secure your own Mercedes AMG GT Coupé first before helping others

I kinda wish our world had actual cool stuff like that instead of microplastic and global warming.

[–] sangeteria@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago

Maybe not country-size ocean snakes, but the world does have Binturongs! It also has deserts. It even has religious architecture! These are some cool things.

May Surtur destroy America with his fire sword

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

This is a lot less funny to me after I had to sit through a long bus ride near a woman blaring AI generated christian conspiracy theory videos at full volume, there's so fucking much of that shit now and it has fried the minds of so many people, this woman was staring at her phone like an ipad baby, 0 awareness of anything around her, but she looked like she was in her 50s or 60s. Shit is so fucked. People who make up these conspiracy theories have caused irreparable damage to some people's minds.

It's Odins fault for being mean to Fenrir

[–] regul@hexbear.net 35 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Apologies for slut-shaming, but it's Loki's fault for being a too sexy horse.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Jokes aside, it must be awesome to be a brainless facebook boomer who lives in a world that's like a fantasy novel.

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We all wish our biggest issue was an ancient, earth spanning snake awakening from its slumber. It would be easier than this shit.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yeah you do a bunch of character building for about 30 minutes as the snake is foreshadowed, then reveal the snake as all kinds of hell breaks loose, then our characters figure out a way to kill the snake. boom donezo

[–] Lurkmore@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The snake is capitalism. Boom symbolism.

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I have to wonder if they actually believe it, or if they just get really into the bit because it's fun

thinking-about-it

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

Knowing my aunt who's QAnon and MAGA faithful, there's a lot of true believers biden-troll

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

It's kind of both. The first bit of that False Witnesses article talks a little about this sort of idea.

https://redsails.org/false-witnesses/

That’s how one ends up with a bad dragon on their hands like we’re currently seeing!!!

People out here mixing up Leviathan and Jörmungandr, smh

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

Right?? Jörmungandr eats the whole world, while Leviathan just eats the souls of the damned. You'd think a highly educated populace like the richest nation on Earth would know important things like this.

Too late, the Gjallarhorn has been blown

The Fimbulwinter is upon us!

[–] regul@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hey, don't blame me, I clipped heaps of dead people's nails so that Hel wouldn't have the materials for her ship!

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't want to join the einherjar, I don't even like mead that much

[–] regul@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, I watched a few episodes and it just didn't grab me

I might give it another go someday, but for now I'm happy with other stuff

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I logged through the first 2 seasons cause I assumed it was going somewhere. It wasnt.

[–] fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a sit com, do they ever really go anywhere?

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

This one was serialized and sitcoms fo go somewhere in terms of finding their footing after a couple seasons usually

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago
