Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Family members say the man killed by a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis on Saturday was an intensive care nurse at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital who cared deeply about people and was upset by Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in his city.

Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed getting in adventures with Joule, his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog who also recently died. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs officer on Jan. 7.

Pretti was a U.S. citizen, born in Illinois. Like Good, court records showed he had no criminal record and his family said he had never had any interactions with law enforcement beyond a handful of traffic tickets.

In a recent conversation with their son, his parents, who live in Colorado, told him to be careful when protesting.

Sent this to my mixed political opinion discord. No responses yet. We'll see if anyone has anything to say. Doubt it tho

I've fucking had it with these goons. Fuck them so fucking hard with a rusty rake. That's what i wish.

Alex Pretti was murdered and is the latest in an expanding list of public murders by ICE.

This was a murder. There won’t be an investigation. Justice is denied.

It's not YOUR government anymore, it's THEIRS.

[–] brooke592@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 hours ago

Yeah, I'm done pretending the system works for me or the people I care about.

It only exists to abuse us as much as we're willing to be abused, and then some.

"Government derives its power from the people, not through threat of force"

Make sure they know that.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

From the people who use threat of force against them.

Death to ICE. Nazi lives don't matter.

Truly a terrorist. He shouldn't have pointed a Samsung Galaxy 9mm automatic assault gun at Federal officers in an attempt to massacre them.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 25 points 7 hours ago

He shouldn’t have panicked after getting pepper sprayed and beat in the head by numerous police officers. Quit resisting!

I encourage everyone to keep an eye out on Youtube and the like for channels like S2 Underground and to report them when they parrot the admin's obvious lies.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Priority video, most in the comments are (accurately) denouncing the official narrative.

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Was way too quiet when they were saying there were roving lynch mobs in their other video.

Judging by the comments their Insta was banned, so there's some justice in the world.

I liked his channel for the radio stuff and occasionally watched wire reports about international events. With recent American events that have popped up on my feed over the last few weeks, he's swan dived into the kool-aid.

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, the way they've been cherry picking clips and editing them leaves no doubt at this point. Something tells me they won't be posting videos about how to sabotage under this administration like they did 4 years ago.

Apologies, slightly off topic but is there a thread for organising action against misinformation on Lemmy?

I've come here from Reddit and the amount of right wing misinformation and propaganda is insane. So much floating around unmoderated.

Just looking for tips on how to effectively deal with it more than anything (other than abandoning ship!)

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Your experience with people calling out Democrats in your first post may have given you the wrong impression - Lemmy doesn't have much of a right wing problem, but it does have an overabundance of leftists. You'll hear a lot of similar "fuck liberals" comments from them, but from the other end of the spectrum. You'll also find a lot of tankies here - leftists that unfailingly support violent, authoritarian regimes, mostly because they're a country other then the US or EU.

In short, you'll find the political inclinations of users here to be (possibly confusingly) diverse, if you stick around.

Right wing misinformation on Lemmy...?

Edit; your account is 8 hours old....

[–] HamFistedVegan@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Yeah I literally just moved here for the reason I expressed.

I'm not a damn bot.

[–] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 hours ago

There were recent posts in instances' meta about a bot wave. Reporting them may help.
