One battle after another, if you're being serious.

I’ve been wondering about this since I saw it—they had to have filmed that a year or longer ago, and it feels obvious that the Penn character is a send up of bovino, but personally I wasn’t aware of him until this year… one more point in favor of how great that movie is.

I Am Sam, if you're not

I barely watch movies, perhaps one per year

Heard. It's a well made movie, but not necessarily one I would recommend. It has the aesthetics of being leftist, while kinda shitting on leftists. I would actually recommend the Running Man remake tbh.

personally I'm fine with relatively tame ribbing of the left / portrayal of lefty figures as dweebs or occasionally inept in the context of a movie whose antagonists are unmistakably right-wing white supremacist perverted murderer scumbags.

Eh, the entire foundation of the movie was built on an Assata Shakur coded Horndog Turncoat figure.

Just in time for Mars’ approach to within 30 degrees of the lunar node.

I feel like that has more to do with the need to map the Freseni stand-in to a realistic character that also allows for the commentary on right-wing racial and humiliation fetish stuff more than anything tbh

actually Napoleon was normal height but he surrounded himself with elite bodyguards all of whom were above 6' tall, so he looked diminutive beside them

[–] huf@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

also, IIRC his height was reported in french inches, which the british press then did not convert to british inches, so he sounded short, and they kinda ran with this as propaganda.

[–] dil@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not actually small, I just... measure it in French inches
