Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). As of today, the US is no longer a member of the World Health Organization—and it leaves the United Nations health agency with hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid bills, according to reporting by Stat News.

Like the Lannisters, but even dumber than Cersei in the books.

“I’m going to start my own WHO, with crystals and essential oils…..” The US….probably.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Crystal healing is far too left wing for most of the US, we prefer our diluted bleach and faith healing untainted with your hippy nonsense thankyou very much.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What are you on about you liberal extremist you? It’s horse dewormer that’s the proven medicine. Stop trying to stereotype us as bleach drinkers - we only do that once every six months

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Oh it has not been only during COVID lol. They've been coming up with all sorts of other zany off label uses for ivermectin since then

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yep, dumbass Scott Adams the Taco supporter tried it on his cancer as a treatment, apparently.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

And I'm glad he's dead.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

It's not though, they've realized that the right is extremely gullible so now they market there.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 week ago

The Cheeto left without paying? As per usual, you mean...

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Good. At this point the more isolated US is the better. Them leaving WHO only means they won't be able to block things and push their fascist agenda.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

I agree, USA would probably just be a bad influence on WHO anyway.
Denying science and demanding WHO follow American politics.
It sucks that USA has sunk so deep, they have the qualified people, but common superstition means more than actual knowledge and qualifications in USA now.

[–] I_Jedi@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I have a sneaking suspicion that the US will make their own Board of Health. Trump will then claim that he has found the cure for cancer - a special compound created when arsenic trioxide is bathed in chlorine gas. And Trump will then kindly offer to cure all of Denmark's citizens of cancer, with force if necessary.

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 3 points 1 week ago

Better dead than under US rule.

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Can't wait for the next pandemic, which is tracked in detail by the WHO and magically never appears in the US while unattributed deaths skyrocket.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's the neat part!

There'll be no deaths whatsoever. There'll be millions of Americans who simply stop making public appearances forever but still manage to vote GOP every election, somehow.

Breathing life into dark futures

[–] miked@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago

Measles is already here running wild in South Carolina.

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The US has been a nation no-one should treat as a serious entity since 2024-11-05, and will not be again until they can prove their ability to hold another legitimate election.

Right now it’s a coin flip as to whether I’ll see that within the remainder of my lifetime.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago

At the current rate of most US citizens waiting until the midterms to see what happens, I anticipate not seeing it in my lifetime.

Meanwhile I got a new gun today and doubled my ammo stock.

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 14 points 1 week ago

Brilliant GOP strategy—“saving” millions of dollars by destroying public health programs & unnecessarily immiserating countless vulnerable people around the world

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just want all the conservatives to die during the next pandemic and for all hospitals to refuse them access. All conservative men, women, and children should just stay home and pray to death. They won't be missed.

[–] Nebraska_Huskers@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (17 children)

Children can't help their parents are morons

Yikes, that's really gonna mess with the WHO. The WHOs 2025 funding was $291.43 million and the US's contribution is the highest at $65.16 million (~22% of the WHOs funding). The next highest is China at $43.79 million, then Japan at $23.06 million, Germany at $17.54 million, and the UK at $12.56 million.

I thought Americans were used to paying medical bills?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, we go into crippling debt.

[–] AccoSpoot@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 week ago

But the WHO are in debt.

[–] j_elgato@leminal.space 1 points 1 week ago

Well, maybe diphtheria won't be that bad...

[–] palmtrees2309@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Medical advisors were warning about the developments of super bugs due to over use of antibiotics and other medicines especially from Meat and Milk Industries. I think they have some how contributed to this move.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Another typical Trump business partner.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is exacerbated by Trump, but it didn't begin under Trump.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yep. The crazy John Birch Society types have been with us for much, much, much longer than Donvict was in office.

That group and similar anti-intellectuals have been a drag on this country for decade upon decade.
