If I wanted to subject myself to repeated brute-force political messaging, I'd watch cable news.

agreed. we need to return to corn

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I thought we were on onion but I think we should do squash next

[–] seraphine@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 days ago

anything, just away from politics

[–] The_v@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I vote for squash/pumpkins. I have a bunch of those as well as corn.

Half of these problems would be solved with a tagging system like on Reddit, then you could just block by tags

I'm pretty sure PieFed rolled out a tagging system, but clients haven't caught up yet

[–] salacious_coaster@feddit.online 37 points 3 days ago (4 children)

That would depend on users following the tagging system. If Imgur is any indication, political posters will purposely not do that, because they think it's their god-given mission to "spread awareness."

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 days ago

You're so right, and they are utterly self-defeating. By attempting to force people to engage, they're having the opposite effect. People are disengaging instead, and I don't blame them. We need our spaces for silly humor.

[–] JayDee@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 3 days ago

Not if we had a system in place for users having the ability to submit tags and the mods to implement those tags.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 5 points 3 days ago

Then you'd be able to report their posts for reason other than "me no like"

[–] cm0002@suppo.fi 3 points 2 days ago

Idk bout imgur, but Reddit's automod can be set to auto-remove untagged posts or human mods just remove them quickly since it's a no brainer if it's not tagged or tagged improperly

oh look it's alt-accounts-in-chief with great idea about how to block content we dont want to see. let's see what their alt accounts have to say to help us out

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 3 points 2 days ago

what are you on?

[–] Axolotl_cpp@feddit.it 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Sometimes it can be less heavy because people crosspost their thing and you just need to block 'em. But often they are just reposted and damn if i hate seeing the same post 4 times even if i like it

[–] noretus@crazypeople.online 13 points 3 days ago

The struggle is real.

Overused image with obvious fallacy implicating voters

And then top comment is usually someone pointing out how utterly stupid the post is.

Optionally by FlyingSquid or PugJesus

I doubt cable news is making fun of Americans suffering from the same imperialistic practices they applied in the rest of the world through Pepes and captions, lol.

Life's tough when you can bury your head so deep and it still isn't far enough.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not everyone everytime want to be bombarded with US politics, especially when you aren't even American.

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah there's a weird assumption that everyone is American here

I think it got brought over from Reddit it sucks

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hey I think you got the wrong community and thought you were in politicalmemes, happy to help

[–] w3ird_sloth@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Ahh my shitpost wasn't shitposty enough for the shitposts.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

None of this would be happening had USAans voted for Kamala Harris.

But a ⅓rd of them voted for a pedo and another ⅓rd stayed home.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There would still be shitty political memes in shitpost, not a doubt in my mind. Lemmy, like reddit, can be used for propaganda, whether you agree or disagree with that propaganda.

Not in this volume.
